The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

This show was so great! It was always aired late at night I sometimes miss it! I don’t even know when it goes on, and despite how busy my days been I’ve come back and watch it online for a good laugh! This show never fails at that!
I Really like the Outsourced Season 1 … Please don’t stop season 2 to come ..;-) . . awaiting for the more fun in season 2. .
It was a great show. If it were still running, It would have been a good compete for TBBT…
I Amin the call center consulting business so this show caught and kept my interest…. Really strong cast and so much of this was spot on… So sad it folded….
Outsourced is one (if not) of the funniest, most entertaining sitcom series I have ever watched. Great cast & storyline! I have watched the entire first season six times and never bored by it. Very original & refreshing. Such a shame to cancel the show!
As an Indian myself, i thought Outsourced portrayed India in its true form, hilarious and full of character and, it was done tastefully.
Further more it was a damn hilarious show and i would have loved a second season.
Outsourced was one of my most favorite TV shows. It had everything, comedy, romance, social behavior, and actually I even learnt things from it. I was seriously waiting for a season 2, and I really miss Todd, Manmeet, Asha, Guptha, Madhuree, Rajiv, Tonya, Other staff members, A team, Coconut seller, World record guys, and especially Charlie, he was definitely the best character in it. So, I was really looking forward to a season 2, anyway just hoping you guys would listen to me. I don’t know man, my friends and I are still watching it. Cannot understand why it has… Read more »
I remember being so excited for this show when it came out. My friends and I religiously watched about the first 10 episodes each week, but were very disappointed. I thought this show was horrible and was not surprised it got cancelled. Great idea, I mean, how can a bunch of Indian people at a call center not be hilarious?! This show proved it.
Its so disappointing how the over rated series sometimes turn out to be boring and the under rated ones like this one turn out to be so good and funny..I really think a season 2 should be aired.
I just watched it online and its an amaizing series.please put it back on track.not many people knew about it in mumbai.please put it back on track please.
My friend mentioned this series to me. I watched all the 22 episodes in one weekend. It is hilarious! I haven’t laughed like this for a long time. The humour is intelligent and fresh! The Brits should take over and bring it back like Episodes (with Matt Le Blanc), it will sure last. I am almost certain, they’ll kill Galavant too. Also a hilarious series. What a pity.
I strongly feel tht 2nd season must b released..not bcz d only reason tht it’s comedy one bt mainly bcz it may inspires or teachesalot to corporate high post Bose to how to control n encourage d employees rather thn jst finding d reasons to dump thm off ..exactly wht Rajee tries to do all d time… Lets fire d one..!! Better if series continues n sm people get to knw hw to handle d othr human n consider their emotions as well…b4 any conclusion… I really really loved d series….d way d msgs passed wid so much comedy n… Read more »
