Discovery Communication’s Velocity, a cable network for men who love cars, airs its world premiere of the final season of Overhaulin‘, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT. Overhaulin’, hosted by Chip Foose, will air four final episodes, before series end. While no one is saying the show is cancelled, the press release makes it clear that Overhaulin’ is driving to its final destination — a TV series finale. For fans, there is little difference between an ending and an official cancellation.
The four-episode season nine kicks off with special guests Johnny Depp and Amber Heard (and her 1968 red Ford Mustang) appearing in the season nine premiere, and once more, before the series finale.
Here’s the Discovery press release:
Velocity Says Goodbye to Iconic Automotive Series OVERHAULIN’ With Star-Studded Final Episodes
Hollywood Stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Star in the First of Four Final Episodes Beginning Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT Only on Velocity
This November, Velocity is taking OVERHAULIN’, the series that embodies the emotional connection between man and machine, for one last ride. As the series makes its way into the garage one final time, Velocity is celebrating the undeniable legacy of OVERHAULIN’ with four all-new episodes, two of which feature movie stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and retired U.S. Navy SEAL and “Lone Survivor” co-author Marcus Luttrell. Additionally, Velocity is dipping into series history with a special “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’” marathon that counts down fans’ 20 favorite episodes since the franchise began in 2004.
“OVERHAULIN’ has left an indelible mark on television audiences and car culture over the past 11 years,” said Robert Scanlon, General Manager of Velocity and Automotive Content. “Chip Foose and his team have made so many dreams come true, creating unforgettable cars and TV moments. We’re sad to see the series come to a close, but as car lovers we’re excited to appreciate the beauty of Chip’s creations and the powerful legacy of OVERHAULIN’ from afar.”
Since 2004 OVERHAULIN’ has changed the lives of more than 100 car owners by transforming their beloved but rundown rides. Through the years countless family members and friends have surprised their deserving loved ones with the amazing imagination of renowned car designer Chip Foose, the cunning of co-host Chris Jacobs and the hard work of the A-Team that have defined the OVERHAULIN’ franchise.
In the first of the final four episodes, Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp enlists the help of Foose, Jacobs, co-hosts Arianny Celeste and Adrienne Janic, and the A-Team to overhaul his wife’s beloved 1967 Ford Mustang. For more than a decade, Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, has cherished the ’68 Mustang. Since then the car has been stolen twice and fallen into disrepair. With guidance from Heard’s father, Depp turns to Foose and the team to surprise Amber with a Mustang that’s been brought back to life with the classic OVERHAULIN’ touch. New episodes of OVERHAULIN’ world premiere on Velocity Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT.
In addition to the final episodes Velocity is taking a ride down memory lane with “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’”, a two day marathon of viewers’ favorite episodes on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 beginning at 2 PM ET/PT. Audiences will enjoy the top 20 highest-rated episodes of the series that reach back as far as 2004 for an episode featuring a 1952 GMC Truck, as well as deserving builds of a 1964 Impala from season three, a 1970 El Camino from season six, a classic 1957 Corvette and much more.

What do you think? Did you watch Velocity’s show, Overhaulin’? Would you have watched a tenth season?
What A shame. Chip Foose is a true Master Artist when it came to bringing old iron back to life.
Overhaulin will be greatly missed & there is nothing out there that compares!
Again, what a shame!
I would have watched this show forever. The level that they take these old crappy cars to is unparalleled. I love Chip’s artistic flair and the passion that all of the A Team has is so fun to watch. I will miss this show.
Yes, I would watch Overhaulin for the next 10 seasons. It is a quality show with talented and wonderful people who put their heart and soul into every build. Thanks for the great show and hopefully it will be resurrected in the near future.
Get rid of Dallas Car Sharks! KEEP OVERHAULIN’!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!
Since we won’t be getting a Foose Fix from Velocity any longer, I’m hoping another network, Discovery or History perhaps, will pick up the show in the future. Velocity lost me as a viewer. Most of the other car shows on that network don’t come close in quality. With all the mindless crap on TV, why cut Overhaulin?
You need to watch Bitchin Rides, Kindigit has turned out some pretty Unique cars and trucks!
Agreed. Nothing else on Velocity is worth watching,
I have watched overhauling from the beginning. I love this show and I could watch it for another twenty seasons.
Overhaulin’ is/was the CLASS ACT of all of the car building shows that have come after it. Chip and his A-Team were always professional, with no coarse or foul langauge, which seeems to be the new standard in this type of automotive program. It is certainly a sad day when a decent proram like Overhaulin’ is “put out to pasture” in favor of one of the new imitators. My hope is that Velocity of aome other venue will see the value in bringing bac Overhaulin’ in the VERY NEAR future. We definitely need more programs which can be watched by… Read more »
I want to see it come back. I learned a lot from this show and wished my car had a chance to get on the show . Very sorry to see it go it needs to come back signed Ralph Martin Jr Tuscaloosa Alabama
Agreed!
All good things must come to an end, thanks for 9 great seasons
Here is a show that isnt about drug use or crime, but about the every-day driver who goes the work every day and pays his bills, but in the back of his mind me wants to fix up his dream car which has been parked for yeats because he or she cannot afford to fix it up. Someone sends in his name and story to “Overhaulin” and they respond and offer to fix up the car like no one can usually afford to have it fixed up, thanks to Chip and the “A” team members. It is a heart warming… Read more »
My Wife and I love the show. We are heartbroken that it is over. It was the car lovers lottery. Every viewer would watch the show, think if that was only me. Now the lottery is over and with that goes the dream of being “Overhauled”.
The show was also so positive that the whole family could watch it. It showed people making the dreams come true.
Chris, Chip and the “A Team”, thank you for the years of making dreams come true.
I would love to see more seasons of OVERHAULIN’! I’ve watched every episode I could. It inspires me to work on my classic cars and stretches the limits of what can be done. My wife even enjoys watching it and she is not into cars at all. The teamwork and chemistry between the people is outstanding and captivating. Chip’s creativity is not likely to get stale or repetitive for years to come. Why end such a good show?
Only reason I was paying the extra $$ was to get Velocity and watch Overhaulin. Cable provider is losing an upgraded channel listing.
I love, love, love this show. I can’t believe it’s ending! I’m sad, I looked forward to watching this show for years to come. Chip & his team are truly going to be missed!
Chip foose is by far the BEST car customizer there is, the show was my favorite and I would watch 20 seasons.
I’m completely heartbroken that the series is ending. Sure I’m a diehard car guy, but it was really satisfying and great to watch a reality show that not only connected to the gearhead’s adrenaline factor it also warmed the heart with wonderful story lines of festering average Joes. I have two cars I would have loved to see done simultaneously. I would not have kept either car. One would have gone back to my father a 1968 Impala convertible that he worked on for a few years and just flat ran out of money and time because he was donating… Read more »
Respectfully, the show is over! Why go into a huge begging session to get your car overhauled, when the show has finished.
I will miss Overhaulin and Chip’s example of a giving heart.
I would watch a 10th, 11th, 12th, and as many as can be produced in a lifetime. Overhaulin’ has been a favorite for me and my 3 boys since it started. This show has actually inspired and directed one my son’s career direction. Please do what you have to do get this great show back in production. It would mean a lot to a lot of people.
