Discovery Communication’s Velocity, a cable network for men who love cars, airs its world premiere of the final season of Overhaulin‘, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT. Overhaulin’, hosted by Chip Foose, will air four final episodes, before series end. While no one is saying the show is cancelled, the press release makes it clear that Overhaulin’ is driving to its final destination — a TV series finale. For fans, there is little difference between an ending and an official cancellation.
The four-episode season nine kicks off with special guests Johnny Depp and Amber Heard (and her 1968 red Ford Mustang) appearing in the season nine premiere, and once more, before the series finale.
Here’s the Discovery press release:
Velocity Says Goodbye to Iconic Automotive Series OVERHAULIN’ With Star-Studded Final Episodes
Hollywood Stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Star in the First of Four Final Episodes Beginning Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT Only on Velocity
This November, Velocity is taking OVERHAULIN’, the series that embodies the emotional connection between man and machine, for one last ride. As the series makes its way into the garage one final time, Velocity is celebrating the undeniable legacy of OVERHAULIN’ with four all-new episodes, two of which feature movie stars Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and retired U.S. Navy SEAL and “Lone Survivor” co-author Marcus Luttrell. Additionally, Velocity is dipping into series history with a special “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’” marathon that counts down fans’ 20 favorite episodes since the franchise began in 2004.
“OVERHAULIN’ has left an indelible mark on television audiences and car culture over the past 11 years,” said Robert Scanlon, General Manager of Velocity and Automotive Content. “Chip Foose and his team have made so many dreams come true, creating unforgettable cars and TV moments. We’re sad to see the series come to a close, but as car lovers we’re excited to appreciate the beauty of Chip’s creations and the powerful legacy of OVERHAULIN’ from afar.”
Since 2004 OVERHAULIN’ has changed the lives of more than 100 car owners by transforming their beloved but rundown rides. Through the years countless family members and friends have surprised their deserving loved ones with the amazing imagination of renowned car designer Chip Foose, the cunning of co-host Chris Jacobs and the hard work of the A-Team that have defined the OVERHAULIN’ franchise.
In the first of the final four episodes, Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp enlists the help of Foose, Jacobs, co-hosts Arianny Celeste and Adrienne Janic, and the A-Team to overhaul his wife’s beloved 1967 Ford Mustang. For more than a decade, Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, has cherished the ’68 Mustang. Since then the car has been stolen twice and fallen into disrepair. With guidance from Heard’s father, Depp turns to Foose and the team to surprise Amber with a Mustang that’s been brought back to life with the classic OVERHAULIN’ touch. New episodes of OVERHAULIN’ world premiere on Velocity Wednesday, November 4 at 9 PM ET/PT.
In addition to the final episodes Velocity is taking a ride down memory lane with “Say It Ain’t OVERHAULIN’”, a two day marathon of viewers’ favorite episodes on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 beginning at 2 PM ET/PT. Audiences will enjoy the top 20 highest-rated episodes of the series that reach back as far as 2004 for an episode featuring a 1952 GMC Truck, as well as deserving builds of a 1964 Impala from season three, a 1970 El Camino from season six, a classic 1957 Corvette and much more.

What do you think? Did you watch Velocity’s show, Overhaulin’? Would you have watched a tenth season?
I think the producer needs to be canceled!!!!! OVERHAULIN WAS THE BEST SHOW ON VELOCITY!!!!!! My husband and I watched this show faithfully. If I had known that some dumb ass producer was going to cancel Overhaulin, I would have saved every show. I hope that Chip and the A Team get picked up by another channel; then Discovery Channel will discover how much Overhaulin means to the American public because all their viewers will watch Overhaulin on that channel. My days of watching the Discovery Channel and Velocity are over. I hope all you Overhaulin fans follow suit until… Read more »
A show this popular will be out on DVD, just wait, all the better to go back and watch without the commericals.
What were you thinking! Pulling this show was bad call! A little revision by getting back in touch with real people and finding truly deserving ones across the country not limiting to California and this show would fly again. Even better it would soar. All you need is Chip Chris aJ and the A team. Oh yeah and a smarter more creative producer. Is anyone listening?
They listen, but don’t “hear.” The noobs at Discovery Channel have destroyed the reputation of that once-informative network in favor of Doing The Cheap. You know The Cheap: reality show after reality show, low production costs, the same ads aired every 10 minutes, ultimately ending with a few pimp-jobs for other inane and boring melodramatic series. It’s good for Chip to get from other those losers at Discovery/History networks; they’d rather force feed the whackjobs at Ancient Aliens than to give viewers what they want (and like). Within the TV industry there exists a strata of sociopathic money-worshippers who cannot… Read more »
I hope Chip lands on another network with this great show. So much for my ’63 merc S55 ragtop being showcased on his show. This will cut my Discovery Channel watching time by 1/2 now.
I am so sad, I love this show. I would watch until the end of days. Also, just got ahold of my Father-in-laws 1947 Willis that my wife and her brothers group doing so much in it. I was really hoping to have Overhaulin put it back together before my Father-in-law passed away….what a shame this show is
S cancelled. Love it!
Overhaulin sets the benchmark what a car show should and could be. it amazes me each and every time I watch the show to see them pick the minds of the insiders to create the most beautiful cars in the world. it doesn’t hurt either that they showcase new products that are out there and available for the average Joe like me to be able to install on my car in my garage. while I will never be able to produce anything nearly as beautiful as what they make their, at least I can have vision and dream. It amazes… Read more »
Everybody loved it, But the producer! I even liked watching the reruns. Just goes to show you that the bottom dollar speaks louder than anything else! It will be missed. Showed there was some humanity left in the car world.
TV executives’ rush to produce shows on the cheap is alienating viewers so much, many cable subscribers aren’t renewing. It’s as if their special brand of greed is a unique form of suicide: Suicide by chasing away viewers and advertisers. Comcast, Cox, etc., can blame themselves for charging subscribers a ridiculous amount for an endless array of shows starring backwater rednecks, freaks, and soul-less drama queens. If *I* wanted to see rednecks, freaks and soul-less drama queens, all I need to do is to hang at the nearest district court and watch the proceedings in any court…and it’s free (although… Read more »
Cancelling Overhaulin’ is a real shame. Every other show on Velocity sucks.
I’ve come to the conclusion that too many programmers, just like politicians are out of contact with reality and the consumers. Chip and the A team define what an automotive program is truly all about. Drama, a bit of comedic relief and utter happiness of those who have been ” Overhauled.” Yes, I have a ride that was destroyed in na tornado ten years ago but so enjoy these who are truly deserving and have been blessed by Chip and his crew. PLEASE reconsider and if Chip and the A teammate able and willing … Go for another ten seasons.… Read more »
I would watch til I died…..next
Was my favorite show hands down
Have a 57 custom300 I would love to let Chip loose on
I can only dream
Please bring it back
My favorite show bring it back soon
Hell yeah, I could have watched 20 more seasons I would love to do my 67 S code Mustang GT…
I think it stinks! I love Chip and the A-Team! I will surely miss their shows.
“Overhaulin ” cost alot of money to make. They uses top of the line parts. And look at all the man hours they put into a rebuilt. Imagine getting the bill. Velocity got the bill! The Cable show didn’t get the numbers to keep it alive. Every dream car cost a ton of cash. It was a nice dream while it lasted. I enjoyed every rebuilt and learn something new every show.
Understand what the true cost is, Pete: Losing millions upon millions of viewers who would buy those products that Velocity purchased. It’s the typical short-sighted myopia that’s made this era’s TV producers a laughingstock. They may be rich, but are they ever mental.
I will miss watching “Overhaulin”. I loved watching the transformation of the cars/trucks. I had always dreamed that my 55 Chevy Cameo would one day receive the Chip Foose Treatment. Mr. Foose and the A team were really masters of their craft. Hopefully some day Chip will return with this show or another like it.
