Though it’s been in danger of being cancelled each year, Parenthood has survived for five seasons. Will it see a sixth year or will this be the end? We’ll have a better idea as the weeks progress.
Airing on NBC since 2010, Parenthood revolves around the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The ensemble cast includes Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Tyree Brown, Joy Bryant, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Xolo Mariduena, Mae Whitman, with Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Parenthood has been renewed for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes.
Final season averages: 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
For comparisons: The fourth season of Parks and Recreation averaged a 1.8 rating in the demo and 4.98 million viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Parenthood TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
Parenthood is one of the best shows I’ve EVER seen. The storylines really touch the heart and viewers relate to so many of the stories. I am a boomer and all my friends also love this show. Forget the reality junk shows and keep this well written and well acted show on primetime.
Parenthood is one of the few quality shows on television. I look forward to watching it. The people are very real, and I resent that the networks use an 18-49 demographic. We Baby Boomers exist in great numbers. We have money to spend, and I would be willing to pay to see shows of quality such as parenthood. LEAVE IT ON THE AIR, NBC. You aren’t number one, and you will go lower if you cancel quality.
Parenthood is my favorite show. There are so many killing, reality, FBI shows on t.v. I look so forward to watching this every week. It is a show you can relate to you with real life issues. I will be so sad if this goes off the air.
I was soooo disappointed tonight (we DVR) to see that everyone’s lives seemed to wrapping up so I got on here to see if it was cancelled. Please count my vote NOT to cancel this show. I watched the very first episode and was hooked with the opening Bob Dylan song! This show has a depth that no other shows on TV have. The characters and stories are very well written and acted. We were surprised by the Haddie story because she had that very sweet interracial relationship early in the show. I am sorry many people won’t watch because… Read more »
I love Parenthood. Great script, great actors, great camera work.
We have very few quality shows.
Parenthood is one of the only decent shows on TV. Please don’t cancel.
Parenthood is one of my favorite TV shows. Please do not cancel!
I have truly grown up in the braver man house. People can’t connect to the ironic comedies and suspenseful dramas that fill most networks today the way they can with the sometimes awkward but deeply felt dialogue that pervades parenthood. Not only can most viewers identify with one or more of the characters so deeply as to face the same problems with the same attitude in their lives, but parenthood is fresh and interesting, often very suprising, with out sacrificing its personability. I am nearly as invested in the family that appears on the show as I am in my… Read more »
Please do not cancel parenthood. The entire society definitely needs more shows like one this.
PLEASE keep Parenthood on the air! It is the best show on television with great acting, cast, and story lines. We need shows like this where we can empathize with the characters. There is so much trash on nowadays that Parenthood actually makes it a pleasure to sit down and watch tv. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!!
My very favorite show!!! Please don’t cancel it!!!
I truly love Parenthood Not gonna lie, usually DVR it as Thursdays have the best of the best on all networks. But Parenthood is consistently wonderful without gratuitous sex or violence. You see bits of your own life challenges and can relate to the characters. It is a feel good show that comforts viewers. A true escape from reality. Why doesn’t NBC give it the opportunity to shine in a time slot not against the biggest powerhouse shows. LOTS OF PEOPLE ENJOY QUALITY PROGRAMS on FRIDAY AND SAT. HOPEFULLY HALLMARK OR ANOTHER CABLE NETWORK WOULD FIND THIS GEM IF NBC… Read more »
I agree!
I’m hoping NBC gives us at least one more season if Parenthood. It has those same qualities that made shows like Hill Street Blues and Friday Night Lights special: great writing and acting and issues and themes that most finis can relate to. Like FNL it also has great music and scenery.
It’s just so well done. I’m just afraid that NBC gone too far down the reality programming rabbit hole. Hope I’m wrong about that.
Please renew Parenthood! We need more shows about family, struggles, joys, and life. There are more than enough “reality” shows. I’m old enough to know life’s problems aren’t always solved in 24 minutes ( plus commercials). Let my generation have one show that is more “reality” than most of the touted “reality” shows out there.
please do not cancel parenthood. i love the bravermans, we look forward to seeing them every thursday. we even enjoyed seeing crosby crossover to about a boy to play cards
