Fans of NBC’s Passions were understandably upset last January when the network announced that the steamy soap had been cancelled. A few months later, satellite provider DirecTV stepped in to “save the day” and made a deal to produce Passions for their exclusive Channel 101.
Unfortunately, many fans can’t subscribe to DirecTV due to economics or a variety of other reasons. When Passions leaves NBC on September 7th, there’ll be no way for them to follow the adventures of their favorite Harmony residents. Or will there?
Last night, DirecTV hosted the first of four half-hour shows called Passions LIVE!. Castmember Eric Martsolf (Ethan) hosted the program, chatted with Juliet Mills (Tabitha) and Heidi Mueller (Kay), and answered fans’ questions.
After the show, Eric spent about 10 minutes online with viewers. One fan asked if Passions would be available online. Martsolf responded, “DirectTV knows that you guys want to watch it online so they’re taking steps and they’re making efforts to make sure that it is broadcast online very, very soon.” (You can hear it for yourself at the 4:45 mark.)
This certainly doesn’t qualify as an official announcement about online viewing but it does gives hope that there’s some action going on behind the scenes. Though production of the show will ultimately be funded by subscriber revenue, DirecTV knows that everyone can’t subscribe. Hopefully, the number of people who have subscribed will be enough to make the venture worth their investment and keep the soap going for years to come — both via Channel 101 and online.

I start watching the show because of my daughter she got me hooked on the show, I record it every day so that I can look at it later, with it going to DirectTv a product that I dont like at all I’m hoping that the show can be aired on the internet

I really hope they put it online because as a fan I am unable to switch to Direct TV and am really upset they are moving it to Direct TV. I would hope they would see fit to let us continue to watch it online. It’s not fair to the fans who are loyal to the show who can’t afford to switch. Please give us a chance to keep watching our show. Thank you so much for your time.
OMG, Eric said that on next week’s live show, Emily Harper (aka Fancy Crane) will be there!!!! Fancy is my favourite character, and Emily is like my role model…but my parents dont even know that I watch Passions, so honestly, how on earth am I supposed to say that I want to switch to satellitle for no reason whatsoever? I just hope that they post the live show when Emily comes…that is all I am asking for.

well i am one of the millions that aren’t going to be able to watch once you switch and it kinda sucks cause your playing new episodes and i’m missing it. so please tell me will you find out about lil ethan before you switch.
I will miss passions. I am unable to get Direct TV so I will be missing out on it from here on out..

Please put Passions online its the only way thousands of us can ever see our favorite show again there are really people in places like cyworld that cry because they can’t get Direct TV and its very sad.

I really hope that they do decide to broadcast the show online. I can’t afford the switch to Direct TV either, and was extremely angry at NBC’s decision to cancel the show (as was my Mom, both of us have been watching the show since the very first episode). If they continue to show it online, that would be fabulous – I’ll just have to teach Mom how to use Dad’s computer so that she can watch it too (LOL)!!
Eric proclaimed during Passions Live that they were taking steps and making efforts to make sure it will be broadcasted online. I believe him because we heard this stright from his lips. This would be great for alot of people, including me.

I have been watching passions since it started and i will miss it I can not afford to get direct tv so I guess i will not be watching passions again unless it is on the internet.
