Fans of NBC’s Passions were understandably upset last January when the network announced that the steamy soap had been cancelled. A few months later, satellite provider DirecTV stepped in to “save the day” and made a deal to produce Passions for their exclusive Channel 101.
Unfortunately, many fans can’t subscribe to DirecTV due to economics or a variety of other reasons. When Passions leaves NBC on September 7th, there’ll be no way for them to follow the adventures of their favorite Harmony residents. Or will there?
Last night, DirecTV hosted the first of four half-hour shows called Passions LIVE!. Castmember Eric Martsolf (Ethan) hosted the program, chatted with Juliet Mills (Tabitha) and Heidi Mueller (Kay), and answered fans’ questions.
After the show, Eric spent about 10 minutes online with viewers. One fan asked if Passions would be available online. Martsolf responded, “DirectTV knows that you guys want to watch it online so they’re taking steps and they’re making efforts to make sure that it is broadcast online very, very soon.” (You can hear it for yourself at the 4:45 mark.)
This certainly doesn’t qualify as an official announcement about online viewing but it does gives hope that there’s some action going on behind the scenes. Though production of the show will ultimately be funded by subscriber revenue, DirecTV knows that everyone can’t subscribe. Hopefully, the number of people who have subscribed will be enough to make the venture worth their investment and keep the soap going for years to come — both via Channel 101 and online.

I’m sorry to hear that NBC is moving Passion’s to DTV. I also have watched from day 1. Before Passions I watched Another World and Sun Set Beach Which they also got rid Of.I also watch Days Of our Lives Which I’ve watched since I was in grade school. Now 34 I record Days, And Passions while at work. I’ve had to listen to my husband complain about what stupid sh*t I watch. ok, I agree I too have a 2:00 HOLE in my life thanks to Passions being cancelled. I have watched it from the start and it is the only soap I watch. Thats how I found this link…Im on my computer trying to find a way to watch it and get around me not having direct tv…booo hooo It is so silly sometimes but its got this magic pull to it!!

I am 54 years old, own a full time business and have never watched soaps……..that is until Passions which is so comically outrageous! My friends think I’m crazy but I absolutely think of the characters as family-even little Timmy whose death still breaks my heart.

I am with everyone else, I have watched this story from day one. I was soooo angry at NBC (if they didnt have other good shows, I would ban them) Then to replace it with a crossword game show??? What is up with that? Please put the show online, that is the best idea ever. PLEASE do it QUICK…I feel like I have lost a month and it hasnt even been a whole week.

Man I just tried to get directv and they said they needed 200 dollar depoist so ok after me working for you for 2 years you will not let me just get it and pay thats bull. I have gotten you guys so many customers from my call center I was the top sales person and I got your customers to Upgrade constantly and why can i not get it I love passions I need Passions so if anyone out there in directv land wants to help me get it with out a depoist Ill do it i can pay… Read more »

I too have been watching Passons since day 1, I am so disgusted with the fact that I am being asked to change cable companies (to me that is a definete misconduct & abuse of money power)Your company is so far out of line that I could smack you upside the head!
