Fans of NBC’s Passions were understandably upset last January when the network announced that the steamy soap had been cancelled. A few months later, satellite provider DirecTV stepped in to “save the day” and made a deal to produce Passions for their exclusive Channel 101.
Unfortunately, many fans can’t subscribe to DirecTV due to economics or a variety of other reasons. When Passions leaves NBC on September 7th, there’ll be no way for them to follow the adventures of their favorite Harmony residents. Or will there?
Last night, DirecTV hosted the first of four half-hour shows called Passions LIVE!. Castmember Eric Martsolf (Ethan) hosted the program, chatted with Juliet Mills (Tabitha) and Heidi Mueller (Kay), and answered fans’ questions.
After the show, Eric spent about 10 minutes online with viewers. One fan asked if Passions would be available online. Martsolf responded, “DirectTV knows that you guys want to watch it online so they’re taking steps and they’re making efforts to make sure that it is broadcast online very, very soon.” (You can hear it for yourself at the 4:45 mark.)
This certainly doesn’t qualify as an official announcement about online viewing but it does gives hope that there’s some action going on behind the scenes. Though production of the show will ultimately be funded by subscriber revenue, DirecTV knows that everyone can’t subscribe. Hopefully, the number of people who have subscribed will be enough to make the venture worth their investment and keep the soap going for years to come — both via Channel 101 and online.

AFTER MY HUSBAND DIED THIS SHOW MEANT A LOT TO ME. I WATCHED IT EVERY DAY TILL IT WENT OFF. THE NETWORK SHOULD TAKE SOME OF ITS OTHER SHOWS OFF THAT ARE STUPID AND RETURN THIS SHOW PASSIONS. I MISS IT EVERY DAY. ARE YOU GOING TO BRING DVD’ OUT I WOULD SURLLY BUY THE SET. BRING IT BACK TO FIVE DAYS A WEEK

I want passions back i,m so glad ethan and theresa got married it was so great best soap i have ever seen since i started watching days since I was 10 now i,m 36 will be 37 in sept 18 I want passions back missed it so much this week i have been so bored and heart broken need passions back today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!would be very greatful to have the show back on nbc or somewhere . go passions you rock i love you passions and cast!
Passions is the greatest soap opera ever made i looked forward to watching when i knew it was going to b on tv but now it doesn’t come on any more and I miss Passions so much I hope it comes back on in a few weeks cause I loved Ethan and Theresa the most please bring it back!!!!!!!!

I really can’t believe they cancel Passions that is my favorite show, When Passions was on I always look forward the next day to watch it, I like the way you end with the truth coming out about Gwen and mostly my favorite two Ethan and Theresa finally together. Please bring it back on tv

Well i already switched to direct t.v i wouldnt say it was the best but i am glad i can watch passions again and i am have issues getting this online i really dont have time to watch it during the day and need to see it everyday so we need to do something about this ok. thanks
