Streaming on the Amazon Prime Video paid subscription platform, Patriot stars Michael Dorman, Michael Chernus, Terry O’Quinn, Kathleen Munroe, Kurtwood Smith, Aliette Opheim, Chris Conrad, Julian Richings, Gil Bellows, and Marcus Toji.
This political thriller follows intelligence officer John Tavner (Dorman). With only his unsafe “non-official cover” as a mid-level employee at an industrial piping firm, Tavner is on assignment to stop Iran from going nuclear. Lingering PTSD, governmental ineptitude, and meeting the requirements of his cover, cause spiraling blunders which threaten his mission. His penchant for smoking pot and writing all too confessional folks songs don’t help matters. And then there’s the trail of dead and maimed bodies he leaves in his wake.
The pilot episode of Patriot was first released in November 2015 with the rest of the first season being unveiled in February 2017. The show was renewed for a second season in April 2017 and those 8 episodes were released in November 2018. With the cancellation, the spy series is capped with a total of 18 episodes.

Best show ever! Worst decision ever! If Amazon had simply marketed it better, people would have discovered just how extraordinary the series is – the writing (including the guitar lyrics) and the acting are phenomenal. DANG…we loved this series and looked for season 3 each time we logged onto Prime. WAS SUCH A GREAT SHOW! One of the best on TV.
Figures they always cancel the GOOD stuff and keep the BAD stuff. Too intelligent for most to follow maybe? What a shame, was a great show with an awesome cast.
What a mistake in canceling this series! As another fan stated, “this show was not promoted enough”. However, look again at the overall reviews/stars…through the roof. Thank God The Sopranos, The Wire and Breaking Bad did NOT cease production after their respective 2nd seasons. I scanned at least 6 other Amz Original series that have 3+ seasons which have IMDb ratings lower than The Patriot? I cannot understand how production costs would exceed other programs that are continuing in order to cancel this one? I really enjoyed the Patriot Season one and two. Very disappointed there will not be a third season. Great writing and the cast and their characters were outstanding. Expressing that I am not fine with Amazon’s decision to cancel.
Yes. I want this show back. When I found out Patriot was canceled my first thought was I am canceling Amazon Prime.. good thing I get free shipping and hate going to Walmart. Patriot is currently my favorite show. It has all the emotions and a story that has never been told like this. The writer/director is a genius and the cast is perfection. Patriot was unique, witty, heartbreaking, hilarious, heartwarming. Who makes these decisions?? It never ceases to amaze me how the best, most intelligent tv gets cancelled while the insipid material seems to proliferate.
John Tavner was by far more believable than the Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) character. John Tavner was by far a better tale. To me the budget put into ‘The Patriot’ was by far more economical than the new Jack Ryan series (waste of money); I was not impressed with season 1, b/c Jack Ryan did not fight like he was a former Marine… he fought in the first episode like he never had been in a fight before.
Jack Ryan was a huge disappointment – especially given all the hype. It had some of the worst acting I’ve seen and the casting was abysmal The budget for Jack Ryan was likely 10x that of Patriot and Patriot was 100x better! Amazon, please save the low-brow poorly-acted formulaic crap for the theaters and provide your streaming subscribers the high-quality, intelligently written and produced content they deserve. By far the best show on Amazon. I’m so disappointed in them it’s enough to cancel my subscription. Facinating characters and plot. Unique and a huge loss. Some network, any network pick p this show up and run with it.

what a shame!!! this easily became my favorite show upon discovery, then i fell in love to have it taken from me just as quickly… kinda like most women in my life. leaving me empty and dead inside. just begging for more
