CBS is no longer interested in Person of Interest. Deadline reports the series has been cancelled after five seasons.
Person of Interest stars Jim Caviezel as a former CIA agent who teams up with a billionaire genius (Michael Emerson) to prevent crime.
The cancellation isn’t new news. Though the series was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season last year, Person of Interest has been rumored to be coming to an end for awhile.
Ratings have declined for the series in recent years, and last season, the show took a dip when it moved nights. This winter, series producer J.J. Abrams even said the fifth season would probably be the show’s last.
From series creator Jonah Nolan and executive producer Greg Plageman, in a press statement:
We’re extremely excited to be able share this final season with the fans. We’re eternally grateful to our amazing cast and crew, as well as our partners at the studio and network. Most of all, we want to thank the show’s fans — the best fans in the world. This subversive little paranoia-inducing cyberpunk-thriller is for you and would not have been possible without your support. As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it’s been our great privilege to work on the show for the past five seasons. We can’t wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter.”
The fifth and final season of Person of Interest premieres on May 3rd on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think it should’ve been cancelled or renewed for a sixth season?
I am a regular viewer. A great story and the crew does clean tight acting. The premise is so close to today, no fantasy. Another reason to watch tv is now gone.
This is a great show. It sucks that it is being cancelled. The new shows CBS has released ARE TERRIBLE, yet you are cancelling a critically aclaimed show. Limitless and Rush Hour are aweful. Person of Interest is leagues above most of the shows you are introducing. With its cancellation I will be watching more on Fox as your line up is ddeteriorating.
I think they should have kept it going. I loved this show
I would watch this show no matter what day or time slot it were in. Please continue it.
i just love this show, i cant even imagine my life after it ends. pleas. for me and all this great fandom of POI let the netflix take the show. it’s not fair. we all shoot shipers were waiting so long and thats the end? NO! NO! NO!
This is freaking terrible POI is being cancelled. This is such a great well written show where it actually surprises me and it isn’t cookie cutter endings. There is not many shows left this good. They are all ending white collar now POI.
I don’t understand what people want to watch, there is so much trash on tv now a fays. I love this show, have never missed an episode, wish there was something that could be done to keep it on the air.
My husband and I have watched it from the beginning and it’s simply brilliant. We’ve just had the final show broadcast here in the UK and I really, really want to know what happens next……
Cancelling this show is a terrible thing to do, especially when you consider the rubbish shows that keep being renewed.
I like this show very much…and am sorry it was cancelled…BUT I can understand if the cast wanted to move on to other characters…
my kind of show, frankly…smart, good acting…filmed in NYC (I live here).
Please renew this show, I agree the original premise far surpassed the last season unbelievable story line. I hate to see this bite the dust. One of the better tv programs as far as originality. I agree with Jan, the beginning characters had great chemistry until you started messing with it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I would watch this show no matter what day or time slot it were in. Please continue it.
Don’t end it! It’s the best show on tv after The Walking Dead!
nope, it may be bast after game of thrones but not after twd
I didn’t like that they got rid of the strong female characters (carter and shaw). The one that was left, could never carry the show alone. Changing the day and time wouldn’t matter as long as the same chemistry was there. The fellas need a strong lady to work with them.
Loved the show and considering all the junk that is on TV it is a shame that this good show is ending. Sad, alas and alack.
POI is one of the absolute best shows in recent years; such a shame that Season 5 will be the last installment. Great casting, believable and well developed characters, always interesting, detailed and suspenseful story lines. Anxiously awaiting May 3rd!
One of my favorite shows I will miss it. Seems like they always cancel the good ones
