Last week, we reported that Person of Interest executive producer J.J. Abrams said the series will likely be cancelled after its upcoming fifth season. Now, CBS has stated that the decision to cancel or renew will not be made before season five premieres in the spring.
Person of Interest was renewed for a 13-episode fifth season back in May.
Speaking at the TCA winter press tour, CBS executive Glenn Geller said the creators of Person of Interest “have planned a terrific season,” and the network “hope[s] to get it on this spring.”
While CBS is keeping silent about plans for the series, Abrams said the creative team is planning the upcoming season as if it were its last:
“My guess is [Season 5] is the final season. The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued. … But, obviously, things can be adjusted if [there’s] a miraculous [ratings] performance. But I think the idea is that this would be the finale.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of Person of Interest? Do you think the next season will be its last?
This show never failed to keep me on the edge of my seat. There are truly few shows that have held my attention like this. I have been a huge CBS fan because of Person of Interest, Criminal Minds, NCIS and CSI. Now it’s CSi cyber (ok), NCIS (super) and Criminal Minds. NBC is looking better the more shows you cancel.
I found Person of Interst to be the best show on TV. Great plots and wonderful actors. It’s a shame to end a show of such outstanding quality.
It seems like every network who finally has a well written intelligent series can’t stand the idea of continuing it has to cancel. Person of Interest is such a show. It if was in a bad time slot then move it but do not deny viewers quality viewing in a day where there is so much mindless trash on TV.
Shame on CBS
I hate CBS. They’ve tried their best to ruin a great show. I used to love Thursdays when Person of Interest and Elementary ran back to back. But noooooooo, CBS had to mess with it and change days and time slots and screw everything up. Then it was the NFL on Thursday nights (whoopee). Now its not even on at all and they wonder why good TV has low ratings………..quit changing the slots. Put it on Sundays after the Good Wife is done (great show) and leave it alone. Otherwise I’d move it to TNT or USA and blow off… Read more »
Love the show, will miss it, and have missed it. If cbs does not want it maybe netflix, amazon, or some one else can pick it up.
JJ WAS my main man, it’s a pity he’s turning into a little ***** as of lately. **** you man.
Love the show. Can’t figure out who makes these crazy decisions…guess it’s some thirty year olds who are addicted to pawn shop, hoarder, “real” housewife or all the other “reality” shows. Guess this is what they call “the dumbing down of America” era!
A Great show so much could still be told. But if ratings fall even the best like Persons of Interest will be discarded. And often replaced by inferior programmes. A big mistake to cancel an amazing drama. But I am only one voice! The Foureyed Poet.
Please don’t cancel Person of interest the story writing is very good and I for one think there is enough reality shows. Most of us work for a living and the last thing I need is to go home and watch a “REALITY” show just saying
I think that this is one of the better shows on TV. I hope it will not be canceled but if they do please make it have a good ending.
Please don’t cancel the show. This is 1 of the few good shows still on.
Maybe a lot less reality shows and more of shows like person of interest!!!! I loved this show.
DON’T cancel Person of Interest. It is such a high-level show.
Person of Interest is a favorite in our home, and we will be quite disappointed if it gets cancelled. I will not be shocked, however, as drivel appears to be highly rated these days. Flood the air with reality shows and “who’s the next star” shows if you must, but please throw us a bone and leave POI where it is.
There is a lot of junk on tv. This was or is one of the few network shows I watched.
