The ratings have come down quite a bit (again) this year but CBS has decided to keep Person of Interest around for a fifth season.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
Airing on Tuesday nights at 10pm, the fourth season of the series has averaged a 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million viewers. Compared to the third season, that’s down by 22% in the demo and down by 20% in viewership.
It’s in the middle of the pack of CBS’ current crop of scripted series and its fate could have gone either way. A fifth season will put Person of Interest over the 100 episode mark, making for a solid-sized syndication package, which may have played a role in the renewal.
What do you think? Do you like the Person of Interest series? Do you think season five should be the end?
Update: It looks like season five may be the end for Person of Interest on CBS.
I Believe this show has lost its focus. The idea of the machine helping was very welcome. In seasons 3 and 4 this is not important. It should be cancelled.
I am a big fan of POI and can’t wait for the next season. Do more with the machine plots and less with the standard cop show and the viewers will come back.
I would be disappointed if it is cancelled. I was looking forward to how the machine rebounds. I don’t see where evil ever triumphed over good. Please bring it back!!
I like POI very much. It makes me enjoy watching TV. I hope the show won’t be canceled and will go on for at least 2 or 3 seasons. I must know what will happend to machine, how it will fight back and not just “die” or something like that 🙂 Show must go on 🙂
I really enjoy this series and I’m glad CBS has decided on a fifth series. I’m a young at heart 60 year old whjo enjoys a good fight between forces of good and evil. Please, let the good guys win!!!
I think Person of Interest is one of the TOP series on TV and probably my personal favorite! I think it should be renewed every year!
No I think POI should shoot for 10 seasons minimum. I can see enough AI plots to keep it alive for 12+ and the Writers, CAST and CREW of POI are awesome. You must consider this option. I think to get ratings up you need to put it at 8PM Slot say Wednesday evenings, and run two episodes per season at 2HR each with 1 being a 2 Hour Season cliff hanger.
Looking forward to more AI/Human Interactions, and reactions..

I love this show but it is hard to stay up and watch it at the late time, thus I must DVR it. Hopefully the series will continue to air.
I look forward to it every week, even the re-runs. It is so different from other shows. As my husband & I were saying the hour goes by so fast. If it wasn’t interesting the time would really drag. Keep it on for at least as long as NCIS>
The plot became very hard to follow from week to week. It required total concentration to keep up on what was transpiring. A TV drama show should be entertaining where a viewer can just relax and be transported to somewhere else figuritively speaking. It should not be work to be able to follow the story line.
Hopefully, the writers will get back to the basic plot lines that made the show really very good the first two years
I love the show but would be nicer if played an earlier time slot
I agree with you Charlie, however. I’ll be watching no matter what time it’s on. It’s my all time favorite show these days!
The show got SCREWED up in the third season after they let Carter go and put those other silly females on the show. The show was fine with Fusco, Carter, Finch, and Reese. In fact it was PERFECT! NOTHING AND NOBODY needed to be added. It was a show with the best plots and action I’d seen in a long time and I am SEVENTY-ONE YEARS OLD, so Ive seen a lot of shows. I only watch perhaps 10 shows (sometimes less) a week now on a regular basis and all of them are the old shows like Gunsmoke, The… Read more »
No disrespect to your age but it sounds like your old school and rightly so. I’m 58 and sometimes the old way is better but I’m also of the generation of womens lib, ERA. I love Shaw and Root. I love the fact that there as tough as the men. Remember women are in the military now. You should of given it a chance. The show is not far from he truth. The show is still great they just took it in a different direction. The actress who played Carter wanted, what could they do.
I agree with Laura. The show is fantastic and iv enjoyed evolving with all the characters, past and present. Not sure what I’d do without POI. Keep it going or sell it to someone that will. Marty.
Thanks Marty, I agree. Some shows went from network TV to a cable channel with the new episodes and they did great. Also for everyone who loves POI. they are repeating season 4 on sat nights at 8 pm. Tell your friends.
He’ll no!
Sorry to be blunt but IS IT ” He’ll KNOW” or “HELL NO” . They are two different statements.
I enjoy POI and have pondered the episodes and the realities of today’s events. The situations are fanciful but have some kind of truth to them. I look forward to seeing how the Team made it through the gunfight. Who came to their rescue? How will they get the machine up and running? Will the machine find a way to thwart Samaritan?
I look forward to new episode of POI EVERY WEEK! Would be lost and terribly UPSET to see the show end in less than 7 or 8 FULL seasons! Sell old episodes to netflix, let ppl keep up with it from beginning, and ratings will soar! GREAT SHOW! PLEASE KEEP IT GOING!!!!
Agree Brian
