Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
This show never should have been cancelled. The ratings system is so flawed it’s not funny. The live 7 ratings had the demo way higher than live ratings in Season 4, and what TV execs do not get is more than half the viewers who DVR the series rewatch it without fast forwarding the ads, so those viewers are seeing the ads that pay for the show. The idiot at CBS who said that POI broke even was lying. If that was so why pay for another season, even if it was a shortened one. I am so upset they… Read more »
I love POI and have hated that it was cancelled. I still watch all the reruns that I can find. Is it still possible to be picked up by a network? It’s so disturbing to have a network ignore so many fans writing in their comments about a series.
Watch Westworld. It is the intellectual successor to Person of Interest. Many of the writers’ thoughts will get expressed there. It is really a shame that people did not understand what PoI was doing. Science Fiction fans should have been all over PoI. Most viewers there for a criminal procedural… Well, no wonder they got frustrated as the show went on. I once asked a non-science fiction fans how they would feel if PoI had time travel, and she said she would would hate it! I didn’t bother explaining what was going on to her. She would have probably been… Read more »
its and excellent show and should stay on i watch it every time its on
Person of Interest was one of the best shows that has ever been on television. The writing was profound and the casting was superb. It is rare to have that combination. The chemistry was amazing. The final episode was brilliant…. so often a final show leaves you confused or empty but the depth of the characters and the writing was fantastic. I can’t believe the networks keep the garbage they keep and let good and often great shows go. No wonder our society is so lacking in character and real intelligence they spend their time watching the reality show CRAP…… Read more »
This was probably one most innovative programs on television in a long time. Shame on CBS for cancelling this show, it shows how small minded you people are and without any what soever imagination for future viewers. I will say good bye to CBS forever.Unhankful
If I lived in the US, I would boycott CBS, as it is I refuse to watch Australian Commercial TV, because most of the shows are crap and when POI first started they lied to the viewers that they were showing a new season and only showed the end of season one. Off to the torrent sites I went and never returned to commercial TV. CBS owns a third of one of our networks, so I refuse to buy any DVDs of the shows they produce. Small minded TV bosses as someone said above is so true. Where is their… Read more »
I absolutely loved this show. I know a lot of people are heart broken that you did not renew this great show. I also hope another station would pick up this show. I too believe that a lot more people watch this show than the ratings claim. And killing off Reese was not closure just a lousy ending!
I like what I’ve seen so far> I hope and I would expect that it will be renewed for a 6th season…. I believe there are more people that watch it than one might believe….
Re:Person of Interest Season 5, first two episodes very boring (comedy, drama, mystery,???), can’t figure it out yet what they’re trying to do here. Very seriously thinking about viewing the last two episodes, but leaving the rest of this alone if this doesn’t pick up.Almost like they’re trying to hard.
Finally is back on 🙂
