Last season, Person of Interest moved to Tuesday nights and lost Taraji P. Henson. The show also lost a lot in the ratings. Will the numbers continue to fall or will they rise with a new lead-in? Is it essentially guaranteed to be renewed for a fifth season by CBS (because of syndication) or, could it be cancelled? Stay tuned.
On Person of Interest, a presumed dead former-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) work together to prevent violent crimes in New York City. The rest of the cast includes Kevin Chapman, Sarah Shahi, and Amy Acker.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/11 update: Person of Interest has been renewed for a fifth season on CBS. Will it be the end?
Final season averages: 1.53 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.42 million total viewers.

Due to a Nielsen glitch, some of the early ratings of the 2014-15 season were revised a few weeks later.
For comparisons: The third season of Person of Interest averaged a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.83 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like the Person of Interest TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a fifth season?
I love this television show! My only concern is that every major African-American character on the show has died! I wonder who they will introduce this season and then kill them at the end?
Good grief….enough already! Whitey is rapidly headed toward minority status in this country. Just hang in there until around 2035+- a few years. TV will reflect the changing demographics. Unfortunately for you Wilson, the demographics will reflect the need for more Hispanic, Indian & Asian actors. If you want to see blacks on TV in large numbers…watch an NBA, NFL, or college football game. Sheesh!
Detective Carter, Alonzo Quinn (HR head), and Detective Beecher were all major black characters who died on the show. It’s a fact their characters were removed and not replaced with minority actors. There have also been Asians with only one or two stints during a season. It will be interesting to see who comes and goes next!
From ‘Pride and Prejudice’, the words of Mr. Darcy convey my sentiments exactly……. “my good opinion once lost is lost forever.” There is absolutely nothing Person of Interest can do to make the fans, so utterly disappointed and devastated by the disingenuousness and duplicity of the writers, ever watch the show again. My curiosity about the ratings stems from an intense desire to see the drama fail miserably, immediately or slowly and painfully. I consider the bait and switch of storylines a betrayal. The entire premise of the show changed drastically, as did the casting. No one likes to buy… Read more »
Shaw and Root have got to go and the show needs to get back on track. Shaw is beyond terrible and I can only handle Root in small doses. When they brought Shaw into the show that was almost the time I parted company with Person of Interest. The only thing that kept me around was my liking of the four core characters of the show: John, Finch, Carter and Fusco. Bear (how can anyone not like Bear?) and Elias were also major draws for me as they both steal every single scene they are in. When Carter was killed,… Read more »
are kiddding, forget about rating, show is awesome, root and shaw beter than taraji, that combo best in the world
forget the ratings? are you serious? ratings determine whether a show stays on the air or not.
and if Shaw and Root are so much better than Carter, why the 50% drop in ratings? oh that’s right bad schedule, poor lead in, no one understands the intricacies of the show, (insert other excuse here) most people love carter and hate shaw/root. so, sorry, the show isn’t awesome, it sucks
But enjoy watching it as long as it pleases you. You just won’t have me sitting on the couch beside you (figuratively speaking).
I have to agree with you here, nemo f. Ratings is why our favorite shows stay or go. Without good ratings, the only thing that can keep a show on is if someone at the network has enough faith in it that standing behind it will help it. Much like how Brandon Tartikoff made NBC a ratings powerhouse in the 80’s and 90’s thanks to his ability to spot something good when he saw it and give it a chance when others said it should go. Network execs aren’t like that anymore, though. If the ratings aren’t there a show… Read more »
Bear the wrong breed![🙂](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/svg/1f642.svg)
When it was Bear and the core four, the show had great ratings, When the show switched to focus on shaw, root and machine v. machine, it lost its direction and ratings
Hello there. The Number of Viewers ist wrong. It’s 10,58 not 10,67 Mio. The 10,67 Mio. are the fast ratings.
Thanks for the catch
Yes, I agree the ratings aren’t good but I still love this show. Annnnd I love the new concept of them having actual jobs. I always wondered who was paying the bills. Now they need to get rid of the young lady who gets the calls.
Harold paid the bills, he was a multi BILLION billionaire. Rememebr the episode where John found Harold “at work” in cubicle and asked him if the others knew he actually owned the company
the numbers adjusted DOWN so this train wreck is even worse than originally thought.
I guess killing carter and promoting Root to series regular was a bad move after all. (if they hadn’t already figured it out from last year’s ratings)
Something…..maybe a lot of things are not working with this show. What a complete about face. Who’s in charge of this debacle? It appears unfixable. Person of Interest was a contender, but now is hardly in the game, let alone standing tall.
I love Person of Interest, and have from the beginning.
Lost half its audience from season one and people still think this is a hit.
Watched less than half the episodes last year, tuned in to the premiere in hopes of something better, big mistake, more of the same only worse.
Not surprised about the ratings.
Still love the show!!
horrible ratings
Ratings will never be as good as they were or as good as they might have been without extremely destructive storyline and casting decisions. Person of Interest has officially doomed itself. Nolan and Plageman continue in denial, but the the numbers cannot be repudiated. This is no longer a “hit” show and may be placed on life support as ratings continue downward. CBS is complicit in the slow demise of this once promising but now offputting offering.
Likely will ride out for five seasons due to high total viewership. People over 49 also have a bit of money to spend. Interesting premise for this season.
I can see it getting renewed for a fifth season, but it may be it’s last if DVR doesn’t bump it up.
