NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season. Why? Because, though NBC has promoted it as a mini-series, Persons Unknown could continue for a second season.
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.
What do you think? Would you like to see Persons Unknown continue in some way?
I’m from Brazil, and I watched all the first season. I really hope the second season. Me and my friends just love this show!
I watched thewhole season as it aired. Kept me going and I would love to see it come back.
I just watched “Season 1” on Netflix. This is a totally engaging series with enough intrigue in the final episode to warrant a Season 2. I really hope they decide to continue on with it.
Watched the show on netflix. I was hoping there was a second season. If they make it, I’ll watch it.
Ya I just discoverd it on netflix and it is awesome..they need to stop canceling good shows

I loved this show. I watched it from episode 1 it was very realistic. Great story line with great actors. Please continue. 5 stars.
I can’t believe they are not continuing persons unknown! I really liked this show and certainly don’t feel that all was answered in the last episode aired. Where did they end up in the end ? A parallel universe?
There should definitely be a second season and as many as you would like. Way to go NBC always messing up getting rid of good things. This show gets five stars in my book!
A friend told me about this as he knows I like shows like this, I can’t believe I didn’t know that it was on, no wonder it didn’t receive good ratings. anyways it was a surburb story and I hope there is a season 2 or another miniseries of it as I hate being left in the dark as I didn’t understand the ending of it
I watched the show from the very first episode. I loved it. I hope there is a second season.
I also watched the entire first season on Netflix, and am also schoked i havent seen advertising. I hope the show continues, even if it is on another channel.
This show was amazing!! NBC sure messed up by not advertising as well as they should have, I, among a lot of my friends, would have watched this while airing if we only knew about it. I’m hoping for a season ‘book’ two!!
I watched the entire season 1 on netflix in 2 days. I cannot believe I never saw any advertisements or commercials for this show while it was on the air. The actors and actresses were believable and the story-line was very fluid. It also set you up nicely for the next episode. I hated having to split the season into 2 days. While I was away the show was all I could think about.
I really think NBC dropped the ball because this would be a HUGE HIT if people knew about it.
