It looks like the Project Blue Book TV series is going MIA. Deadline reports that the scripted TV show has been cancelled after two seasons.
Airing on the History cable channel, the Project Blue Book TV series stars Aidan Gillen, Michael Malarkey, Neal McDonough, Michael Harney, Laura Mennell, and Ksenia Solo. The show is inspired by the personal experiences of Dr. J. Allen Hynek (Gillen), a brilliant college professor. He was recruited by the U.S. Air Force to spearhead the Project Blue Book clandestine operation. He’s partnered with Air Force Captain Michael Quinn (Michael Malarkey). In season two, they quest for the truth and delve deeper into themes of global conspiracy, look at how UFOs have impacted the evolution of the nation’s military practices and technology and lean into the nostalgia of the 1950s.
The second season of Project Blue Book averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.30 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 32% in the demo and down by 22% in viewership. The final episode aired on March 24th.
History’s Knightfall has also been cancelled after two seasons so this leaves Vikings as the channel’s only remaining scripted series. That show is currently in its sixth and final season with the final 10 episodes still waiting to be scheduled.
What do you think? Did you enjoy the Project blue Book TV series? Would you have watched a third season on History?
Finally a nice show about UFO’s which tell a good story about it’s investigators. I also liked the cast very much. Now only question marks stay after the cliffhanger episode of season 2… Come on A+E Networks, please continue the saga
Please continue with season 3. Love this series very much!
Such a shame. While, as a ufo historian who has been in this field for decades, I know this show was not even remotely accurate or historical except in the most vague sense. I still liked it, it was good entertainment. And the lack of viewers has little to do with interest, its because no one knew Season 2 was on. I barely knew, and i was at the premier of the pilot of this show and obsessively archive and watch television of interest like this. It wasn’t advertised at all, the airing of episodes was erratic and didn’t stick… Read more »
liked this show.not well advertised.if you miss season ,you cant catch it back. so streaming sites can allow it.
I loved this show! Season 2 wasn’t advertised much, so I almost missed the Season 2 premiere. If I hadn’t been channel surfing, I would have missed it. I hate that it has been canceled. My sister and I always watched this show together.
NOOOOOO! I love Project Blue Book. I was anxiously awaiting Season 3. This is heartbreaking!
People over 50 probably watch just as much if not more TV, so why focus on anything but?
It’s a tad prejudice and shows another example of the ratings system being deeply flawed.
I would have definitely watched a season 3 and more of Project BlueBook! They keep bringing up the 18-49 demo, but what 18 year old or for that matter, even millennials, care about history??? They’re too wrapped up in themselves and don’t subscribe to anything that is our country’s past. Blue book is real, and although I’m sure there are embellishments as with most shows, it does touch on the coverup by our government pertaining to UFO’s. But, as usual, we invest our time in watching a series, only to have it get the ‘hook’ and always leaves the show… Read more »
Disappointed Project Blue was canceled…
I’m very disappointed that they aren’t going to continue this show, It was awesome! How are you going to leave us not knowing what the heck happens.
Yes! I really enjoyed the series, the content and the actors. I am disappointed and sad that they cancelled it.
Personally I will miss Project Bluebook. There’s so much other garbage out there, at least it was a good escapist show.
Damnit !! I loved this show and was hoping for season 3 !! ☹️
I would have ABSOLUTELY watched it! I’m so tired of great shows being canceled!! Such a great show that was like XFiles in so many ways and was a quasi-replacement for it for a new generation. So So sorry it didn’t get renewed!
My husband and I loved this series. Everything good gets cancelled. I had never watched the History Channel before I watched Project Blue Bood. Very disappointed.
