Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Proof TV show on TNT? If you ran the cable channel, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?
This was our favorite show of the season .Please shoot more . Keep .
when will we know if it is renewed or the dredded canceled? i hope it is enewed i am tired of thestupid reality shows and recycled shows (csi for example). please renew!!!!!
I would very much like to see this series continue! There are so many ways this series can develop… I think the premise for the series is brilliant and long overdue. It is time for network television to turn itself around and start offering something other the mindless pabulum and trash that seems to be dominating the networks these days.
This series offers the viewer the opportunity to “think” and consider the possibilities. It also offers intelligent insight into medicine and family dynamics. We need television programming for thinking people!
KEEP IT! Best series I have seen in a long time. I had lost close family members at a very young age and it gives me hope that this is not the end. My faith in God strengthens this believe and your show offers much comfort.
My husband & I LOVE this show! We look forward to the series each week. The actors have done a great job & we would really like to see where the series leads us!
Keep it please. The acting is good and the story gets better every week!
My husband & I absolutely love this show & look forward to watching each week. Please do not take this off. We would be very disappointed. It has wonderful actors & the subjects they have covered are intriguing to us. We hope there will be more seasons to come.
Thanks,
Keep! This is an awesome show.

oh this is the best show! KEEP PLEASE!!!
Please bring this show back! I have been glued to each episode! I HAVE TO SEE MORE!
Keep it!
Found this to be a thoroughly honest, thought-provoking series. I sincerely hope there is a future for this program. More exposure to this kind of human grappling with the big questions of life is exactly what are 21st century American culture needs on a regular basis. Programs like this one are a stimulating, welcome alternative to the pablum of mind-numbing mediocrity fed to the American tv audience today. BRAVO!!!
I think that PROOF is so well done….outstanding scripts and acting. Any of us who have had NDEs or are alternative professionals recognize the amazing research in the show’s production. Hopefully TNT will opt for a second season. It is a show that gives hope to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.
