Tonight marks the season finale of the Proof TV show on TNT. Will this series that’s focused on death manage to stay alive and see a second season? Should this drama be cancelled instead?
On Proof, Doctor Carolyn “Cat” Tyler (Jennifer Beals) recently lost her son, saw her marriage end, and become estranged to her teenage daughter. Cat is persuaded by cancer-stricken billionaire Ivan Turing (Matthew Modine) to search for evidence that death is not the end and this takes her on a deeply personal and emotional journey. The rest of the cast includes David Sutcliffe, Joe Morton, Edi Gathegi, Caroline Rose Kaplan, Callum Blue, and Annie Thurman.
The series debuted on June 16th with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.66 million viewers. It was a pretty mediocre start for a TNT series. The ratings dwindled downward over the course of the season though they saw a nice bump upward last week.
The season is currently averaging a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.12 million viewers. It’s one of TNT’s lowest-rated scripted series in the demo and is in the middle of the pack in viewership.
With ratings like these, the cable channel could go either way. It could easily be canceled or renewed. If the finale does particularly well, those ratings coupled with last week’s numbers might be enough to tip the scale towards a renewal. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
But, what do you think? Do you like the Proof TV show on TNT? If you ran the cable channel, would you cancel or renew it for a second season?

Please, please renew this show! Love it!
Please keep proof one of the best shows I watch actors are great and storyline is fresh and challenging. I went to see where it goes and how they answer the question.
I just happened to watch PROOF on demand last week, and I had to go back and watch all the episodes. This happens to be one of the best I’ve seen in a while. Hopefully it will continue in a second season. Great acting, great story line – let’s hope it stays on.

Great show. Can’t wait for season 2
great show…renew before Netflix grabs it up
Please have a season 2 plus many more seasons. The characters are fabulous and well rounded. The story line is compelling and has me wanting more. I have watched the entire season and am now re-watching all the episodes.
Please continue this show. You can’t base the success of a show on live viewership or even immediate DVR season end (binge watchers). This is not a family evening around the tube culture anymore. People watch television and movies on their phones iPads, notebooks, and laptops now. On the go. Watching television has evolved. Culture has evolved. Tracking viewership needs to evolve. No one watches commercials regularly anymore. Outside of the well written ones. I understand how shows make income, that has to change as well. Just because people watch the show live or even via DVR, it doesn’t guarantee… Read more »
My husband and I and our best friends really
Loved this well acted thought provoking series. It’s actually the only show we planned ahead to watch each week.
We can’t imagine such a quality show in the midst of such terrible options offered in today’s junk reality TV .. Not being continued !
We appreciate TNT recognizing this unique
topic and choosing such excellent actors.
GREAT AWESOME SHOW PLEASE LET IT STAY ON THE AIR
I had several ladies at my cottage over an August weekend. We tried out several series that were near the end of the season. Proof is the one that everybody was ecstatic about. They all could not wait to go home and catch up on the episodes they missed. What a shame if it doesn’t get a second season to catch on more.
