It looks like CBS has quietly cancelled the Pure Genius TV show. Deadline reports the network has decided not to order any episodes beyond the initial 13. That said, expect all produced episodes to air.
A medical drama from Jason Katims, Pure Genius stars Dermot Mulroney, Augustus Prew, Odette Annable, Reshma Shetty, Aaron Jennings, Ward Horton, and Brenda Song. Production will reportedly wrap on December 15th, with episode 13.
Pure Genius: A Look at the Ratings
Pure Genius premiered on October 27th. The pilot garnered a 1.05 in the 18-49 year old viewer ratings demographic and drew a total audience of 6.229 million viewers. It has been mostly downhill since then.
To date, CBS has aired four episodes of Pure Genius. The show’s season average in the demo is a paltry 0.94, and its total average audience is 5.617 million viewers. In other words, the cancellation is not a huge surprise.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Pure Genius TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
Really? I can’t believe you are cancelling such an inspiring and heartwarming series. This is what the viewers of this world need to learn more about: love, compassion, caring, and togetherness. Many people need to feel HOPE, rather than despair, for their ill inflicted lives (esp for the children critically ill) and this show does just that. The actors are amazing. Come on CBS, wake up. PLEASE reconsider.
My wife and I found Pure Genius to be entertaining, touching and a nice antidote to much of what is broadcast on television. If it gets cancelled, it’s just another example of a program with great acting and an uplifting message that gets put in the trash bin so there’s room for more trash to be shown. So sad.
This is a shame. This is a very entertaining and well acted show that’s been put in a terrible time slot competition wise. It should be given a proper chance at a different day and time. With so many shows to choose from, it takes time for shows to settle in and a. bad time slot dies not help the process. Please reconsider. Thank you.
To cancel Pure Genius would be anything but! Finally, a medical drama that inspires hope in its viewers instead of despair. Keep this show and allow it to reach others by putting it in a timeslot that gives it a chance!
Cancelled? Are you crazy??!! October to December perhaps is the wrong time to judge ratings. People are busy. We DVR so we don’t miss an episode. I really, really hope CBS changes their minds and decides to keep Pure Genius. Watching this show gives hope.
I think. Genius is a fantastic show. If you want to get rid of something that really has no purpose get rid of Dr. Bull. That’s it you so sure if I ever saw one
Please renew the show. It’s very entertaining and it’s nice to have a show that promotes hope.
What!? We finally have a cutting edge medical show with exceptionally plausible cases. Some of the technology and gene work is not far-fetched, but in actual use. We deserve an intelligent and compelling medical show with such a fresh perspective. Ratings will go up as people start talking about Pure Genius so renew it already!!
This is a good show. The concept is great and it has good endings. Keep it.
Please keep this program. I LOVE it! Makes me feel good in tbis so much bad world. Like to believe their are good ricb people in this world. Love the acting and characters. PLEASE order season 2.
We love this show as it is a feel good one especially in these trying times that we live in. CBS please rethink this one!
Really enjoy this snow and am very disappointed that more episodes have not yet been ordered. Hope CBS rethinks this … perhaps in a different time slot.
I love this show. The storyline always gets you thinking–and has such a positive message (something I thoroughly enjoy). I truly hope the network reconsider keeping this series going and perhaps rethinking the time it’s aired to attract a broader audience.
Great concept–medicine meets technology–great cast–characters need more development–great stories–like I’ve survived colon cancer that killed my grandfather. If only my sister caught the inspiration from rapid tech improvements in medicine, she might still be alive. Other medical programs are confused in dialogue, too fast paced, too repetitive in procedures, too artificial in casting. Keep this one that will grow on people with more and wider marketing.
I am beyond annoyed. They put this show at 10 on a Thursday night against 2 already established shows and then wonder why it didn’t do better??? How dumb!! If they had put it on at 9 in an established slot till it could attract an audience then it would be surviving. I get so mad at these networks that make such stupid decisions. But just keep putting crap on and see how that works and keep cancelling good shows !!!
