The show about people returning from the dead — is now dead itself. ABC has cancelled their Resurrection TV series after two seasons on the air.
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when long-dead loved ones return after 30 years. The cast includes Omar Epps, Frances Fisher, Matt Craven, Devin Kelley, Mark Hildreth, Samaire Armstrong, Sam Hazeldine, Landon Gimenez, and Kurtwood Smith.
The series debuted well but the ratings declined over the course of its first season — averaging a 2.52 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.32 million viewers. The network brought it back anyway and the second season debut was down by more than 40% when compared to the series debut.
By the end of the second season, Resurrection’s second year ratings average was at a 1.26 rating in the demo with 4.67 million — a season-to-season decline of 50%.
The last episode aired on January 25th and sadly didn’t offer viewers a resolution to the story.
What do you think? Did you like this series? Are you sorry that Resurrection won’t be returning for a third season?
Disappointed that the show was dropped. I hope they “resurrect” it!
The show was excellent and it’s a damn shame ABC cancelled the show!

Everyone sign the petition maybe we can bring the show back!!
Well that’s not right I loved this show..finally something with real actors…ABC bad move can we at least get some resolution?????
I loved this series!
Why did you cancel this!
It was wonderful! 🙁
Yep, and here i am again, waiting for another show to return and go online to find that it is canceled. WTHELL. No ending in sight, and i really enjoyed the show. The Glades was another show that promptly got canceled with no ending in sight. I hate this summer show crap, especially when the networks just have no finale.
another good show dies they owe it to us to at least give us a ending that really sucks and reality shows continues I want real actors not these reality folks I am so disappointed in ABC if you cancel a show we should at least know how it ends
when they are going to cancel a series they could at least give us an ending or exactly what was happening that really really sucks and all of these reality stupid tv shows are still running I like to see real actors in real series not reality ugg I am so disappointed in ABC
Yet another great show gets the axe. What’s with good shows getting the arse and crap shows continuing in the US?
I think they should have done a third season. It was a great show.
I’m disappointed Reserection is not returning. I did enjoy a simpler story line when there were a small group of returned. With hundreds it got out of control. Plus the factory story line became more of a soap opera. A core group of returned dealing with the emotional issues of a loved one coming back to life would have been a big hit. We all wish our loved ones could return for a while. In our dreams anyway. I’m a medic, I lost my mom suddenly, she was my patient. Never got today goodbye, all the things you want to… Read more »
I loved the show during the first season but by the end of the second season it got to be a little monotonous. However, it would have been nice to have an ending episode to wrap everything up and give explanation for everything. I feel like it left us hanging.
I watched the show in Brazil.
I really enjoy the show and I can not believe That it was cancelled.
My husband and I really enjoyed the show, I can’t believe it’s been cancelled, I really hope that another network wants it and if that happens I’ll be watching every episode.
Best show on TV since “I’ll Fly Away” back in the early 90s. Of course, PBS ran that show for a while when it was cancelled. Resurrection was a great show, but apparently the suits never believed in it, as evidenced by the piece meal roll out of mini seasons, with irregular programming–on one week, off for two, back on, etc. I loved the show, and made it appointment television, except that it DIDN”T come on every Sunday night! I think that had a lot to do with the poor ratings. Sorry to see it go…. Hope another network picks… Read more »
