Heralded as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to television, Ringer couldn’t hold onto its audience. The show’s been cancelled after one season and 22 episodes.
As Ringer begins, we meet Bridget (Gellar), a former stripper and recovering alcoholic who’s witnessed a murder and goes to stay with her estranged twin sister Siobhan (also Gellar). Her sister disappears so Bridget takes Siobhan’s place and soon realizes that her sister’s life was more complicated than her own. The TV series also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Ioan Gruffudd, Mike Colter, Tara Summers, Kristoffer Polaha, Zoey Deutch, Justin Bruening, Billy Miller, Jason Dohring, Nicole Anderson, and Gage Golightly.
Considering the amount of promotion that The CW put behind it, Ringer’s premiere had to viewed as a bit of a disappointment. It registered a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.84 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo dropped a whopping 25% to a 0.9 rating with 1.94 million. Week thee remained stable but week four plunged 33%.
Over the course of the season, the ratings fluctuated but also dwindled downward. They fell as low as a 0.4 rating (several times) with as few as 1.05 million viewers.
With very few hours of primetime real estate to fill, it just didn’t make sense for The CW to renew Ringer for a second season. They’ve cancelled the show and the last episode aired on April 17th. Since it wasn’t expected to be a series finale, several storylines were left up in the air.

My opinion is that the show was cancelled because the methods employed to determine viewership are faulty. I think a small unrepresentative sample is used to measure the popularity of a show. They do not accurately reflect how many people are watching it. If you look at revenue raised from the sales of DVD’s, or online downloads from the platforms still hosting the show; you would get different numbers. Please air season 2 of the ringer. I loved it. Sad to hear they cancel season 2. Id really love to see more. I was hooked.

I was so excited for and LOVED Ringer when it first aired (I cannot believe it was EIGHT YEARS ago) -I’ve watched the entire season several times -most recently on CW Seed app- and am STILL upset with how it was left. So many good shows get canceled (and many shows stay on past their expiration) but none have haunted me like Ringer!!
I’m so glad many more people have been exposed to this show through the app and it’s gained new fans. I really REALLY wish this could have another season or half-season, and give the fans some closure.
Or even a movie for closure on what happened like what they did with the firefly series.
Make a season two!!? Please!! I honestly believe that the ratings would be alot better this go around! I cannot live without knowing what happens next…

What the hell were they thinking canceling this show? Edge of my seat drama from beginning to end! Great characters, great story line, great acting! Maybe loss of viewers was simply timing, regardless this show needs an ending!
Just discovered this show in 2019. On a CW app. I totally love it! So upset there is only one season. Would love to see more. Why do shows like this always get canceled? It seems by all the comments it had quite a few fans. Bring it back please !
I love Ringer where is the second season?
I am so disappointed that there is no season 2!! It was so good. I love SMG, she is awesome and a great actress. I cannot believe this aired years ago. In 2011 I was working two jobs and have no time for TV. I am glad to have seen it wish there was more.
I just finished watching Ringer on the CW and didn’t know this show was aired years ago. I could not stop watching it. I loved the twists, turns, surprises and the use of flashback for the backstory. It was not hard to follow at all. I enjoyed All of the characters and their roles in relation to the other. I was on the edge of my seat each episode. I was very disappointed to see there wasn’t a second season. Please bring it back if possible, if only as a limited series for resolution.
Anyone out there reading this? Please bring back Ringer or better still end it well!
Came across this show on the CW app and absolutely LOVED the show. SOOO disappointed that there was no season 2.. Really wanted to see how it all played out. Bring it back for the new viewers and see what happens.. @SarahMGellar
Seriously, 96% of people voted that this show shouldn’t have been canceled. They need to bring this show back. I was very into it when it was on the air and was very surprised that it was canceled. Hopefully somebody will see these comments and will make it happen!
This is 2017 and i accidentally found a series called “Ringer” and what a series this was!! I couldn’t stop watching it from the start!! It was full of suspense and surprises in each episode and i loved every minute of it. The complete bitchiness of the female characters mostly except Bridget who, i was routing for against her horrible and vindictive twin Siobhan. Yes please bring it back!!! I’m the same way I just found the show and cou not stop watching it!!! I’m so very disappointed in the CW and whom ever decided to cancel the show. It seems to be all about the view. But I do believe the views would come with time as people get to know the show. That’s how I am.
