TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!! It’s WONDERFUL!!!!
I love this show! 2 smart, beautiful talented women who are good friends and also work together. I love all of the other various relationships on the show, too. But mostly the chemistry b/n Rizzoli and Isles. Very witty. Often touching. The focus isn’t just on solving cases, there’re a lot of laughs, sharing of personal situations, family dysfunction. Just a great all around show. Why do the good shows get cancelled?? I say cancel all of the stupid scripted ‘reality shows’ comprised solely of individuals trying to behave more outrageously & sleazily than other castmates:( Talk about the dumbing… Read more »

Why would you cancel such a great show ???? The show had humor, suspense, great story line, and the cast is fun to watch . Two of my favorite shows have been canceled. Castle and Rizzoli & Isles. I would like to know know why ??
Please don’t release Rizzoli&Isles. It’s a show I can share with my family. I love the vibrations they feed of each other. I love the comedy. I love it shows life but not too extremes. I love the huge words for my kids to pick up on. They go to the dictionary and see what they can about the words. I record and watch often. I look forward with my family seeing new episodes. Please don’t drop our unique show that helps in so many ways. We love your show.
Don’t cancel. Like the show a lot.
Why are they cancelling? It is a fantastic show!!! Shame on the network. I am very disappointed.
Love the show. Sorry to hear they are cancelled
Great show perfect combo of mystery fun and class
Please don’t take this show off, I look forward to this show, best one on tv, why are they always taking the best shows off, I love everyone on the show, especially Jane & Maura. Very, very sad if it is taken off.
I love Rizzoli and Isles. I don’t want it to go off the air. I love the chemistry of the actors.
This is a real shame, I love the show and feel it is truly one of the best on these days. Never boring, always interesting all the characters complement each other. Keep this show on, so it tired of good shows going off the air.
I can’t believe this show is done after this season!!! Are you people crazy?!?!?It’s one of the better crime shows on tv. with limited violence and sex which is actually refreshing considering there’s too much of that as it is on tv. A lot of the new one’s that are previewed to begin soon are crap. I will miss R&I
