As reported earlier today, the Rosewood TV show has been cancelled after two seasons on FOX. Now, stars Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz have responded to the cancellation. Check out their reactions, below.
A FOX police procedural, Rosewood centers on charming Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Chestnut) and Detective Annalise Villa (Ortiz). Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Lorraine Toussaint, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian also star. The season two, and now Rosewood TV series finale episode, “Blistering Heat & Brotherly Love,” first aired on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Morris Chestnut on the Rosewood Cancellation
Taking to Instagram, Chestnut wrote:
I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else.
FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected, as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another.
The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever.This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life. When one door closes, two more can open… Thank you all for your continued #onelove and support. See you back on the screen, soon. Big and Small. #PEACE – MC
Jaina Lee Ortiz Says Goodbye to Rosewood
Ortiz also posted to Instagram, saying:
Today is a special day. Today I say goodbye to my very first show, Rosewood.
I say goodbye to Detective Annalise Villa. Damn, I’m gonna miss that woman.
To my partner in crime/the guy who mentored me and showed me the ropes on set. The beautiful Morris Chestnut, and when I say beautiful, I mean his HEART, his SOUL. He is the most selfless person I think I’ve ever met. Kind and gracious.
Our rock. Our captain.
5 days a week, 14 hours a day, he became one of my best-friends.
Love you, Morrisito.
The cast…you’re my family.
To all the hardworking crew and writers… you showed me what “movie magic” was really made out of. It’s created on the backs of your hard work.
Last but not least, this show and it’s incredible characters were created by Todd Harthan. This guy said yes when everyone else told me no, and it has changed my life forever. I adore you. 💙
Gotta give a shoutout to all the fans who have supported and loved us from day 1. The love you expressed via social media for the characters and the story is something we will cherish forever.

I was a big fan of this show. Very disappointed that fox decided to cancel it after two seasons. Great story lines. Great characters. Shame on you fox. U left us with unanswered questions.
Deeply disappointed that Rosewood has Ben cancelled. I have been watching the re-runs on our network and once again on the final episode felt very disappointed that a show as intriguing, filled with action, laughs, adventure, moral and family values be canceled, while lesser show see continual renewal! Makes no sense! Bad call FOX!
I am so very dissapointed that Rosewood has been cancelled! I love this show, the characters were great. Fox should have done season 3.
this is the SECOND show i really invested in that fox has cancelled 2 soon…they did the same thing with FASTLANE..rosewood was doomed as soon as fox tried to go head up with greys anatomy and TOTALLY BLEW IT..get it together and put rosewood back in front of empire..
This was one of my favorite shows. By now i would have been locked in for season 3 but someone decided to pull the plug on it. Another GOOD SHOW cancelled to stroke someone elses ego. All the show that they brought back are not better than this one. This is why TV shows are not as good as back in the days. Take the time and develope your shows. Everyone wants an instant success
Unfortunately they ALWAYS cancel the GOOD SHOWS…disgusted…Loved this show and many others…Castle, Razzoli, Rookie Blue. etc…good shows are a thing of the past…Please Bring Back Rosewood…. Thank you for 2 great season, ill be buying them on Amazon..Hope someone picks it up for a season 3….Netfilix???

This show , should have been renewed it was romance,funny,drama all in one good combination.The actors did a great job hate to see it go.

I loved this show and dont know why you would cancel it, was looking forward to its return, wanting Rosewood and Villa to finally get together. Please reconsider….so sad.
I loved this show!!! Please consider bringing it straight to Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu. This show reminded me of Quincy ME, So new and fresh for it’s time. I know there are many “cop” shows out there but none of them incorporate diversity as well as basic goodness. So often, with other shows, it’s all about the shock factor. PLEASE try to bring this back!!!
In such a time when we need to see a positive environment of diversity in action and especially on screen whether big or small why would you cancel such an integral part of that!!! My husband & I (a bi-racial couple) look for and love shows of this caliber!!!!! We never missed an episode no matter what night it was on:)
I hate they canceled this show, I looked forward to watching it each week. It was special and unique. WHY? WHY? WHY? I think you should bring it back.
