As reported earlier today, the Rosewood TV show has been cancelled after two seasons on FOX. Now, stars Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz have responded to the cancellation. Check out their reactions, below.
A FOX police procedural, Rosewood centers on charming Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Chestnut) and Detective Annalise Villa (Ortiz). Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Lorraine Toussaint, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian also star. The season two, and now Rosewood TV series finale episode, “Blistering Heat & Brotherly Love,” first aired on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Morris Chestnut on the Rosewood Cancellation
Taking to Instagram, Chestnut wrote:
I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else.
FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected, as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another.
The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever.This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life. Jaina Lee Ortiz Says Goodbye to Rosewood
Ortiz also posted to Instagram, saying:
Today is a special day. Today I say goodbye to my very first show, Rosewood.
I say goodbye to Detective Annalise Villa. Damn, I’m gonna miss that woman.
To my partner in crime/the guy who mentored me and showed me the ropes on set. The beautiful Morris Chestnut, and when I say beautiful, I mean his HEART, his SOUL. He is the most selfless person I think I’ve ever met. Kind and gracious.
Our rock. Our captain.
5 days a week, 14 hours a day, he became one of my best-friends.
Love you, Morrisito.
The cast…you’re my family.
To all the hardworking crew and writers… you showed me what “movie magic” was really made out of. It’s created on the backs of your hard work.
Last but not least, this show and it’s incredible characters were created by Todd Harthan. This guy said yes when everyone else told me no, and it has changed my life forever. I adore you. 💙
Gotta give a shoutout to all the fans who have supported and loved us from day 1. The love you expressed via social media for the characters and the story is something we will cherish forever.

Here is the thing, Fox has an absolute reputation of taking risks on shows that have so much potential and cancelling,” Rosewood” is a direct reflection of a minimum of 13 shows in the past 7 yrs that the Fox staff has no real potential growth. They constantly fail on their decision making, and have no concern for a real fan base. This show has been 9ne of the most authentic detective show that i have seen and the chemistry amongst the stars were awesome. This is one show that should’ve had a 3rd season and more and I really dont understand why it was cancelled. We have had so much negativity in 2020, I wish we can hear of a 3rd season of Rosewood, even if it’s with a different tv station. This show needs to be back on air. We need season 3.
Rosewood was the ****!!! I loved everything about it, especially Rosie and Villa!!! It should not have been cancelled,as with all shows that are so right&threaten the “powers that be”,it was hijacked!!! Damn shame
Authentic detective TV at its best!! You canceled the most original detective show on TV in the last 40 years. Every other detective show on TV, is just a cookie cutter of the one before it with different actors playing similar roles. Einstein, Freud, Mozart, and other great scientists and musicians changed the world. If, they had not continued what they had started, where would we be? We need closure, especially if you’re not gonna bring the series back. Did he tell villa he loved her to make her stay or what? We need rosewood back TODAY.
I love the show. Talk about a cliffhanger. I just finished watching it again now in 2020. Bring the show back guys.
After watching Rosewood, the storylines were fantastic and it made you want more of that dialog between the pathologist and the detective. I
am not understanding why it was cancelled in the first place. We need more shows like this and bring back those talented actors and actresses.
i finished watching the two seasons in 3 days and i wonder why it was cancelled. it real needs to come back, i think everyone who watched it and those who will watch it need to know what happened between Detective villa and the Doctor Rosie
Wow! I unintentionally binge watched Rosewood. It definitely needs to come back. Rosie and Detective Villa really need the chance to be a team on another level. #BlackLightMyWorld
Just finished watching the entire series of Rosewood. My husband and I became addicted to this program. We couldn’t believe it was cancelled after only 2 seasons. I would love to see the series revived with the same storyline, same cast.

This was one of my favorite shows. The cast and their chemistry were perfect. I hope they reconsider this decision. Networks need to realize that the ratings are not going to be the same as how they were years ago. Everyone has so many options of how they watched TV shows now and with so many streaming devices available, its impossible to get real data from people just tuning into the network.
It may be to late but I loved this series and I was hooked from the 1st season. The dynamic background of the characters from Roosewood to detective Via and the twist and turns of their lives. I was on the edge of my seat for each episode. If u can revive it great. Thanks for showing me dreams are possible
Okay I hope these comments actually get to all the people it should be getting to – the entire movie making body that could bring Rosewood back. All the 21 years of my life, I’ve never seen a movie that got to my entirety, and I hated Series. I am 80 years old and have been watching TV for years. I only recently watched the two seasons of Rosewood as I don’t watch regular weekly shows. This was fantastic. Can’t believe it was scratched. Only show that really makes a reality of characters who made a real family out of themselves, excellent emotions, and real love were demonstrated. After I watched the DVD two series, I could not believe this wonderful show was cancelled. It had nothing more to do but to grow and become a show of all time.
