As reported earlier today, the Rosewood TV show has been cancelled after two seasons on FOX. Now, stars Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz have responded to the cancellation. Check out their reactions, below.
A FOX police procedural, Rosewood centers on charming Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Chestnut) and Detective Annalise Villa (Ortiz). Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Lorraine Toussaint, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian also star. The season two, and now Rosewood TV series finale episode, “Blistering Heat & Brotherly Love,” first aired on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Morris Chestnut on the Rosewood Cancellation
Taking to Instagram, Chestnut wrote:
I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else.
FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected, as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another.
The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever.This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life. Jaina Lee Ortiz Says Goodbye to Rosewood
Ortiz also posted to Instagram, saying:
Today is a special day. Today I say goodbye to my very first show, Rosewood.
I say goodbye to Detective Annalise Villa. Damn, I’m gonna miss that woman.
To my partner in crime/the guy who mentored me and showed me the ropes on set. The beautiful Morris Chestnut, and when I say beautiful, I mean his HEART, his SOUL. He is the most selfless person I think I’ve ever met. Kind and gracious.
Our rock. Our captain.
5 days a week, 14 hours a day, he became one of my best-friends.
Love you, Morrisito.
The cast…you’re my family.
To all the hardworking crew and writers… you showed me what “movie magic” was really made out of. It’s created on the backs of your hard work.
Last but not least, this show and it’s incredible characters were created by Todd Harthan. This guy said yes when everyone else told me no, and it has changed my life forever. I adore you. 💙
Gotta give a shoutout to all the fans who have supported and loved us from day 1. The love you expressed via social media for the characters and the story is something we will cherish forever.

I always made sure I recorded this show. I was very shocked it got cancelled. Putting almost any show on a Friday night is a death sentence. Yet I’m sure all the viewers even if we couldn’t watched live that day we streamed the show. I watched very little television live. Maybe sell the series to Netflix or someone. I’ve never understood how a show like last man standing even made it to production let alone stay on air. I’ll admit I’ve never watched one episode ever. The concept seems unimaginative. I will miss Rosewood they should have never moved it,from Thursday night… Now we fans will never know if Rosewood & Annalis would have HOOKED UP!!!!
Both my husband and I really enjoyed Rosewood. We are very disappointed about the decision to cancel. I watched 1 episode of Last Man on Earth and it was so stupid I never watched another episode. What is this stupid stuff vs intelligent stuff. Sad!
I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, loved & enjoyed watching ROSEWOOD. The chemistry between Rosy & Villa was great. I wish that it could have developed into something more(and it could have). The show was doing great when it was on Wednesday nights before EMPIRE. FOX should have left it where it was on Wednesday nights. FOX killed the shoe by moving it to Friday nights & they knew that move would kill the ratings. They could have put LETHAL WEAPON on Friday nights in that time slot & let it see if it would do well. Will not presume to understand the business end of programming. But will say as a viewer, that it seems as though Fox deliberately went out of its way to sabotage this show. It back-burnered the Pippy-TMI relationship, which involved two extremely talented actresses. Anna Konkle was not even on some episodes this year, her character off-screen at some mythical ‘conferences.’ I saw little value in adding Sam Huntington’s character. The writers created a burgeoning relationship between Rosewood and Villa that they never resolved. If they knew cancellation was imminent, why create that cliffhanger? Fox Cancelled rosewood but renewed the low rating last man on earth show for a 4th season. I’ve never watched this show and do not plan on viewing. I am not liking the new prison break. If Lucifer wasn’t on fox i would think twice about watching any fox shows
A great show with outstanding chemistry.. I loved Ortiz and Chessnut.. Big mistake canciling the show..

I really hate the Rosewood was cancelled. That was a really great show. It was well written with great actors. I wish Fox would reconsider or someone will pick it up.
I looked forward every week to watching this show. Always made sure I taped it so I wouldn’t miss any of it. Love, love, love this show, the characters, the humor, the bantering. If there is a chance you can bring this show back please do!! If they can bring American Idol back which I think has run its course, seriously, we need a great show to watch, Rosewood!!
You guys at Fox can’t be serious moving them to Fridays was stupid in the first place people don’t watch much TV on Fridays I don’t even go out but Fridays is family day having it by empire was the best idea now you end the show out of nowhere now the show will never have a ending you leave us just guessing.
Fox needs to reconsider. Rosewood was a very good show put it back on Wednesdays lethal weapon is not that good
