As reported earlier today, the Rosewood TV show has been cancelled after two seasons on FOX. Now, stars Morris Chestnut and Jaina Lee Ortiz have responded to the cancellation. Check out their reactions, below.
A FOX police procedural, Rosewood centers on charming Miami pathologist, Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, Jr. (Chestnut) and Detective Annalise Villa (Ortiz). Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle, Lorraine Toussaint, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Eddie Cibrian also star. The season two, and now Rosewood TV series finale episode, “Blistering Heat & Brotherly Love,” first aired on Friday, April 28, 2017.
Morris Chestnut on the Rosewood Cancellation
Taking to Instagram, Chestnut wrote:
I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else.
FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected, as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another.
The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever.This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life. Jaina Lee Ortiz Says Goodbye to Rosewood
Ortiz also posted to Instagram, saying:
Today is a special day. Today I say goodbye to my very first show, Rosewood.
I say goodbye to Detective Annalise Villa. Damn, I’m gonna miss that woman.
To my partner in crime/the guy who mentored me and showed me the ropes on set. The beautiful Morris Chestnut, and when I say beautiful, I mean his HEART, his SOUL. He is the most selfless person I think I’ve ever met. Kind and gracious.
Our rock. Our captain.
5 days a week, 14 hours a day, he became one of my best-friends.
Love you, Morrisito.
The cast…you’re my family.
To all the hardworking crew and writers… you showed me what “movie magic” was really made out of. It’s created on the backs of your hard work.
Last but not least, this show and it’s incredible characters were created by Todd Harthan. This guy said yes when everyone else told me no, and it has changed my life forever. I adore you. 💙
Gotta give a shoutout to all the fans who have supported and loved us from day 1. The love you expressed via social media for the characters and the story is something we will cherish forever.

I just found this show on Netflix and have fallen in love with it. I have only been able to watch the first season but am so hungry for more. Now I find out that the show has been cancelled after the second season. I am so disappointed!

My husband myself and 5 kids watched this every week I am just beside myself that fox has yet AGAIN cancelled a really good show 🙁 and not to mention they left all of the loyal rosewood fans anticipating the third season since the cliff hanger they left us with said “third season” we are soooooo disappointed Bring back ROSEWOOD I am sure there are millions of people that feel the same way !!
I really loved this show and can’t believe FOX would cancel it! You know we all wanted to see analise and Rosie get together. At a time when there are very few good shows on, Rosewood was a joy to watch. Fox needs to bring it back!!
Very disappointed that a witty, clever show has been cancelled. It has off the wall stories, unusual characters, and great locations. Smart and original. I guess that’s exactly why it as cancelled = too smart by far.
Rosewood was a show that gave people hope they can do things due the diversity of the cast in many ways, racial, gender, sexual orientation, education, health, wealth. The story lines showed that “Life happens when you have other plans” but you deal with it. Please someone bring it back.

I must say this. We are very disappointed to have this show end. And for the love of Peter, why leave it as a cliffhanger? Our family completely enjoyed the show and the hunour was becoming delightful. Shame on Fox for cancelling this show. I hope that Netflix will decide to pick this show up. I, for one, cannot stand all the terribly violent and almost sick shows that are on tv these days. So why take a show that had good ratings away for a terrible show like Empire. It is disgusting!
I really cannot believe that this show was cancelled. Here’s hoping somebody picks it up because put into the right time slot it would succeed.

Fox had their reasons for cancelling “Rosewood”, but I hope some other network picks it up. I looked forward to watching it every week. It exhibited great humor and it saddens me that it is gone.
We are so sad, we loved our weekly dose of Rosie and Villa!! Keeping my figures crossed it comes back somehow!!
I wish they hadn’t canceled the show. My family and I love this show. Rosewood should be renewed. I hope they change their minds about canceling it hope they can do that.
Rosewood should have been renewed. It was fresh and had an incredible cast. It demonstrated to young people everywhere how science is involved in all facets of life. It demonstrated to all how anyone can succeed by portraying minorities in intellectual roles; men showing loving and supportive family roles; races cooperating and complementing to resolve issues; and the spirit of inclusion that this country so desperately needs. Loved this show. Hope someone has the courage, heart and spirit to bring it back.
