USA has done very well with Royal Pains, a show about a private doctor who treats the wealthy. Now, the cable channel is trying a different twist with Rush. Will this series be a success and run for many seasons as well or, will it be cancelled after one short year? Stay tuned to find out.
Rush revolves around a talented and handsome physician (Tom Ellis) who had it all — but then lost it in one fateful night. Six years later, he’s a private doctor who treats less-than-squeaky-clean clientele in Los Angeles. The rest of the cast includes Harry Hamlin, Larenz Tate, Odette Annable, and Sarah Habel.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
10/2 update: USA has cancelled Rush after one season of 10 episodes.
Final season averages: 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.65 million total viewers.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Rush TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I LOVE RUSH, and the entire cast ! I am older than 49.
Love this show! I so hope it gets renewed. If it is, how about stepping up the promotion with national talk show appearances, day and nighttime, and radio, for Tom Ellis and Larenz Tate. Larenz Tate already has a strong female following and from the reviews I have read, regardless how they feel about the show, critics believe Tom Ellis can be Hollywood’s next it guy that USA would be stupid to dump right now. I saw a suggestion by one critic to make the series available on Netflix to grow the audience and help with promotion as well.
I never watched USA before these 2 new shows. I don’t know if I will if they cancel Rush! Must keep!
This is 1 of the 2 Best shows ever on USA, RUSH & SUITS are Phenomenal !!!!! I personally must of got 100 people to start watching & only 3 or 4 said it was just OK, the Resr agreed with me, PHENOMENAL !!!!!!!
Couldn’t agree with you more! You left out Covert Affairs…that comes in as a close third. Kudos to USA Network, now we just have to hope that their top brass doesn’t falter at the finish line and decide, for whatever (economical) reason to cancel RUSH. Wish there was a way to have all these positive comments catch the eye of these high paid pencil pushers!
GREAT SHOW!! KEEP IT ON
I am not in your 18-49 demorgraphic, but I am an avid tv fan. This show is on of the best. I am looking forward to season 2.
LOVE IT – KEEP THE SHOW
LOVE IT! BRING IT BACK!
I LOVE this show! It has a great cast, fantastic scripts, and is not the “same ole” when it comes to hospital/doctor themed drama. This show deserves a 2nd season. I really would like to see Manny & Eve’s friendship develop–whether it’s romantic or platonic–and am looking forward to seeing all of the characters and their relationships become more nuanced. The writers are on the right track.
An awesome show that never disappoints in the drama department. Cast is perfect in every way. Terrific acting by everyone. Tom Ellis is amazing as a flawed physician with a heart of gold. Never missed an episode and it would be a shame to have this terrific show cancelled.
If this show fails, it is because USA did nothing to promote it. It is a great show, full of surprises, exciting cast, great stories and above all, it is so fast. So much always going on and a main character that is both dark and sweet. From what I see on twitter, people want it back, as do I..So USA, bring it back, it will have it’s own cult following..not sure the 18 – 49 is fair..it is really a bit older than 18..but all ages enjoy it..USA better promote and renew this show.
It should be renewed. It’s one of the more interesting shows out there.
(Follow-up comment)…Very pleased to see that most agree with my original assessment of the show. How could you not want a season 2 after seeing this season’s finale episode? OMG, if anyone could find anything negative about any aspect of the way this show is produced, well, they probably deserve the Cartoon Network as their main source of entertainment. Correction to my first posting…Longmire is (was) on A&E, not AMC. Read up on the reasons for that cancellation and it’s nothing more than a dollars and cents issue (too bad). Warner Bros. is shopping other outlets so maybe it’s not… Read more »
Keep it!!!
I can hardly wait for Thursday to see the show, Rush. I own a 1970 280 SL Mercedes which I am about to restore. I love the car in Rush, and also the interesting script in the show. I am totally not a television person, however, this show has REALLY caught my attention. The actors, the clever writing, the angst of the doctor dealing with his addictions and his demons, coupled with his sense of “doing what is right for his patients” so intriguing…what will he do next? He is so broken himself, however, he has not reached the point… Read more »
i would love to c it last 5 yrs…its just getting started…:))) luv it
Here’s hoping the execs at USA Network don’t smoke what the geniuses at AMC smoke (cancelling Longmire). RUSH is a winner! Great acting, great writing, great storyline with a fresh premise that keeps things always interesting. Congrats to all involved in producing this gem. Having it disappear into TV cyberspace would be a huge mistake!
Great new show, keep it going !
Winner? the ratings say LOSER!
so was star trek have a little vision…hope usa execs have some 🙂
Longmire was on A&E. Not AMC
