NBC has announced Mikey Day, Alex Moffat, and Melissa Villaseñor are joining the cast as series regulars for the 42nd season of Saturday Night Live. They will debut as featured players, on the October 1st season premiere, replacing Jon Rudnitsky, Taran Killam, Jay Pharoah.
Created and executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Saturday Night Live is produced in association with Broadway Video. Chris Redd had been rumored to be joining the cast, as well, although THR writer Seth Abramovitch said he would not be.. Redd’s name was not included in the NBC press release.
Mikey Day has written for the late-night comedy show since 2013. You may have seen him on this NBC’s summer variety and sketch-comedy offering, Maya & Marty.
Alex Moffat played Ben in the 2015 feature film, Uncle John. The mystery drama also starred John Ashton, Jenna Lyng, and Ronnie Gene Blevins.
Melissa Villaseñor was in the sixth season of America’s Got Talent. She’s done voice work on animated series including TripTank and Adventure Time.
