CBS has cancelled its Scorpion TV show after four seasons. The season, which began with a musical episode, weill be this series’ swan song.
A CBS action drama, Scorpion stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kay Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Robert Patrick, Riley B. Smith, Andy Buckley, Jamie McShane, Joshua Leonard, Dan Dratch, and Scott Porter. Inspired by a real-life computer expert, the series centers on Walter O’Brien (Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. Team Scorpion is the country’s last line of defense against lurking high-tech threats.
Scorpion: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of Scorpion is averaging a 0.81 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.26 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by about 32% and down by 27%, respectively. By both measures, Scorpion is consistently among the lowest rated scripted CBS TV shows.
All told, today CBS cancelled two TV shows: Superior Donuts and Scorpion. The network also renewed five series: Criminal Minds (season 14); Man With a Plan (season three); Life in Pieces (season four); Instinct (season two); and Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (season two).
UPDATE: CBS has cancelled Kevin Can Wait and has renewed Elementary for season seven.
Deadline has confirmed the Scorpion cancellation.
What do you think? Did you think CBS would cancel or renew Scorpion for season five? Now that it’s over, did it end at the right time, or should the network have given it another season to wrap up? Sound off, in the comments.
Why are shows cancelled based on an “age” demographic?? Those of us older than the magic age of 49 are the ones actually watching and buying the items in the ads. This show was such a refreshing change unlike most of the trash left on network tv.
Agreed Karen
I’m well over that age & loved it!
Please Bring it Back !!!
Very bad decision. Good luck finding a better show on Monday, late, to fill a one hour time slot. There was no show like Scorpion.
One more season atleast
I’m boycotting this channel. THis was my all-time favorite show. Quirky and comical. I’m not kidding–called my cable company and dropped CBS. You could have done one more seasons with half the episodes to wrap everything up.
I actually bought CBS all access just so I could see season 4 (I own 1-3 on dvd) how disappointing to leave us all hanging
I didn’t like this show.
CBS has disiponted once again Made a cliff hanger with the team all broke up and not giving a **** for the loyal followers and just leaves it that way. There are other networks to watch plus I’m sure to let the sponsees know.
Done with Regular TV this is the third show I watch that has been cancelled and these networks keep garbage on the air, Goodbye TV nice to know ypu.
Amen Paul!!!!!
CBS continues to disappoint me. Instead of starting the Sunday night lineup late when sports programs run long, you should cut off 60 minutes early. And now THIS !
I agree Bob
Of all the cancellations announced so far, Scorpion and Designated Survivor were the biggest blows for me. I loved both these shows.
This show allowed science and methodologies to intersect with life’s challenges. Networks keep reality shows but a show that challenges the mind or possibilities is cancelled. Hope a cable network would consider picking it up.
I have an odd request for everyone here…..Does anyone know how I go about contacting Nick Santora or Nick Wooton? It’s kinda important
I too hope another network would pick up Scorpion.
Unbelievable. They can’t do this. This was a great show it never got old. At least bring it back for a final season.
I agree. At least have a series finally season.
In a series of depressing cancellation news, this is the WORST one of all. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted.
So sorry scorpion was cancelled, after a horrible finale. Why did they made a so terrible finale if they cancelled??? it was a finale who asked a suit a follow, everybody knows walter and Paige are made for each other, i have my heart veru hurted by this cruel finale. i’d like explanation!!!
Worst news ever, very disappointed
Are you kidding me??? CBS what are you thinking of?? I wish if a show was to be cancelled then the networks could at least end a show by ending the story lines and not just drop it like a hot plate—it isn’t fair to the audience who watches it faithfully. Ratings don’t matter as it is the network who makes the decision not the audience just like our votes for the presidency of our country. I’m tired of good shows being cancelled by networks. CBS had been my favorite network but now I’m beginning to wonder if I was… Read more »
I agree
Evie, you hit the bull right in the eye. Long live democracy, NOT! Can 197 IQ, the real Walter whip up something quick Scorpion-like and fix this?!
Should have gave a final season
I wasn’t sure, but I was hoping it would be renewed. It’s not among my favorites, but I really like this show.
Loved this show. Every show I liked has been cancelled. But keep dumb reality shows on tv.
