CBS has cancelled its Scorpion TV show after four seasons. The season, which began with a musical episode, weill be this series’ swan song.
A CBS action drama, Scorpion stars Elyes Gabel, Katharine McPhee, Eddie Kay Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Robert Patrick, Riley B. Smith, Andy Buckley, Jamie McShane, Joshua Leonard, Dan Dratch, and Scott Porter. Inspired by a real-life computer expert, the series centers on Walter O’Brien (Gabel) and his team of brilliant misfits. Team Scorpion is the country’s last line of defense against lurking high-tech threats.
Scorpion: A Look at the Ratings
The fourth season of Scorpion is averaging a 0.81 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.26 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by about 32% and down by 27%, respectively. By both measures, Scorpion is consistently among the lowest rated scripted CBS TV shows.
All told, today CBS cancelled two TV shows: Superior Donuts and Scorpion. The network also renewed five series: Criminal Minds (season 14); Man With a Plan (season three); Life in Pieces (season four); Instinct (season two); and Big Brother: Celebrity Edition (season two).
UPDATE: CBS has cancelled Kevin Can Wait and has renewed Elementary for season seven.
Deadline has confirmed the Scorpion cancellation.
What do you think? Did you think CBS would cancel or renew Scorpion for season five? Now that it’s over, did it end at the right time, or should the network have given it another season to wrap up? Sound off, in the comments.
Scorpion is a great clean show. It should air an hour earlier and not against Monday Night Football. Plus having terrible shows like Kevin Can Wait and Mom for leadin shows hurt ratings. CBS just lost more viewers and I’m cancelling All Access. KEEP SCORPION!
Agreed
I LOVE SCORPION MOST INTERESTING AND FUNNIEST SHOW ON TV
Eddie Kaye Thomas (Toby) is great…I love Scorpion. I actually learned a few things. Dump the reality shows and bring back Scorpion
CBS put Scorpion in a horrific time slot (even Elementary is doing poorly there), and bases its cancellation on Millenial ratings. So, the Boomers who enjoy the show and control the biggest ad dollars, are left in the cold…again. The last episode left the story in a terrible place…everything failed miserably. Just how you want to remember the show…not. Well, this cancellation has made me decide to stop watching CBS entirely. I have long given up on ABC and NBC, and CBS felt like the only place that I could watch something relevant to my Boomer generation, but no more.… Read more »
Not happy.good show bad time slot
Scorpion is the best show on tv CBS are idiots
You have to be kidding me. CBS just cancelled one of the most intelligent and interesting shows on be TV today. It was in one of the crappiest time slots around. CBS gave it no support because the teenagers of the world don’t watch it. The older people (that is anyone over the age of 30) really enjoy shows like Scorpion and other shows like it. We like to have our brains challenged with what will happen next or how the science really works. Get rid of Kevin Can Wait which now is just a remake of King of Queens.… Read more »
26 and I watched it when it started
CBS took SCORPION, a wonderful, entertaining, family-friendly show & buried it in the latest prime time slot, with a crop of weak comedies as a lead in, gave it minimal promotion (despite it being opposite ABC’s highly promoted new hit of the season) and they wonder why the ratings dropped? We SCORPION fans are a loyal bunch & we are very angry at CBS. The season 4 finale of SCORPION totally sucked as a series finale. CBS could have, at least, given SCORPION a short season 5 to run mid-season or next spring summer. I am one of many SCORPION… Read more »
Hey CBS your cancelling all the great shows, Deception, suppior donuts, and Scorpion. WTF
My favorite show next to NCIS but of course if you’re over 49 you don’t matter. They could at least have ended it better. About to give up on CBS . Have much better luck with cable shows.
Please don;t cancel Scorpion or Superior donuts, we truly like these shows alot.!!!!!
I enjoyed the show and it was definitely better than I thought it would be, but the switching of time slots and as well as narrative choices (such as trying to pair everybody off) hurt the show. Hopefully it could at least go into syndication and maybe they could see how it’d do.
Please don”t cancel Scorpion. I really enjoyed the show I would live to see what happened to everyone. I never missed any shows. I still watch my tapes.
Well, crap. Scorpion is one of my favorite shows. And it’s terrible when they leave you hanging like that.
Should have had a fifth season where paige and walter get back together and married then ended with happy and doc adopting a baby
I agree what about Sylvester and Cabe
CBS why would you leave the Scorpion Series hanging like that? Up until the last episode, the writers were improving. This is horrible, and I am disappointed in your cancelling this series in mid air, so to speak.
I loved Scorpion. All the characters were talented in their own space.
