The detective duo is headed back to the small screen. ITV had announced season five of its drama Scott & Bailey will be a three-part special.
The series, which began in 2011, follows the professional and personal lives of two female detectives in Manchester.
According to the network, season five will focus “on a single crime story on location in Manchester.” The series return will be both darker and more expansive than previous episodes.
No word on a premiere date yet.

I am looking forward to seeing the final season and am so disappointed that it will be the final season – it is one of the best ever British Detective series I have seen and I watch them all
I myself can barely wait! We watch the show in Los Angeles and aside from Inspector George Gently, Scott & Bailey is the best show on television (in America or Great Britain). Those two gals are just terrific, they play off each other in a way I haven’t seen characters do so in years and the supporting cast is wonderful. I will say though that I will sorely miss the character of DCI Gill Murray, she was jumpy, unusually intelligent and such a treat to watch.
