After seasons of poor ratings and several cast members moving on, ABC has finally put the Scrubs TV show to rest.
Scrubs follows hospital life as seen through the eyes of Dr. J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). He left Sacred Heart last season but returns occasionally to help teach a new crop of med students. Others in the cast include Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.
Last May, despite poor ratings, ABC decided to try to squeeze one more year out of the veteran sitcom. The reason? ABC also produces Scrubs and stood to make big money on additional episodes in syndication.
The network kicked off season nine late last year and registered a low 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 4.5 million viewers. The numbers dropped even further and ABC decided to burn off most of the remaining episodes in January.
In March, ABC aired the final episode of the season. The network’s website promoted it as the “series finale.” We contacted a representative for ABC who told us that it was a mistake but nobody was in any rush to change it.
Now, it appears that ABC has finally cancelled Scrubs after nine seasons on the air. With more than 180 episodes, the sitcom won’t be coming back.
What do you think? Should Scrubs have returned after last season’s Braff send off? Did you like the “med school” setting and characters?

I like the 9th season to be honest. I dont see the big deal with everyone saying it was crap, because it wasnt. I think ABC should make a 10th season and wrap it up there, its a good show, and a good cast. Yes there has been changes, but if they kept the old cast, the ratings would be worse off. Look they still have Turk and Dr Cox and Dr Kelso, and Denise who is awesome. Personally i think scrubs is a great show and should continue, you have made the wrong move ABC. Sorry
jesus, the 9th season was just AWFUL. i want those hours of my life back. should have left it at the 8th season, that ending was perfect
Come back, JD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nooooooooooooooooooo 🙁 going to miss scrubs, all the good shows have gone,
king of queens, scrubs, if two and a half men goes there will b nothing else left to watch :O
damn that sucks abc sucks for even canceling the show they should have kept it on even if it didnt get enough views i liked the new stuff but the show will be missed hoping the will return it one day
I think they should’ve at least ended season 9 with an episode where you can see everyone because J.D. isn’t even in the last episode. i still love this show and i think it would be AWESOME if they could continue it at least to make a last season to make up for season 9, i mean don’t get me wrong, season 9 was cool and all but one last season with everybody like Carla and Elliot and J.D. would be just awesome.
I WANTED THEM TO CONTINUE THE SHOW! LOVED IT NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!
all good things come to an end
I’m french, and Scrubs got a great success in our country… Even if I would prefer they keep on showing JD and all the others characters, I found the new ones good. That’s the same title, it is based on the previous but it’s all above a new sitcome, I watch it by this way as a new thing, as a baby of the original Scrubs. I don’t think that it’s a bad thing to change almost all, novelty is important, you can’t do as other sitcoms, where characters become older and older until death like The Young and the… Read more »
i thought it was grate and at least 1 more season would be cool and the new characters were grate
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! The last episode of season 8 was a perfect ending for the series, everyone was happy and moving forward and it would of been a perfect ending. When i found out there was a season 9 i thought ok it will just be like before and JD and Elliot will get married and have kids but JD will stay at his new job to be near Sam and Carla and Turk will have there 2nd baby and everything else will still stay the same at the hospital maybe JD might of even went… Read more »
I wish they kept the seasons going.
I think the fact that it’s new characters on an old show turns people off. However, it’s still as funny as before. I think the characters are great, but need more time to develop so the audience can feel close to them as they did with the original set. One transitional season shouldn’t be enough to condemn a show to cancellation. The scrubs franchise, I believe, has earned at least one more season to regrip their viewers. Hopefully at least anoter network will pick them up.
I did like the Cox part but not the med students. I think they should have rapped it up with one more season.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!
