After seasons of poor ratings and several cast members moving on, ABC has finally put the Scrubs TV show to rest.
Scrubs follows hospital life as seen through the eyes of Dr. J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). He left Sacred Heart last season but returns occasionally to help teach a new crop of med students. Others in the cast include Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.
Last May, despite poor ratings, ABC decided to try to squeeze one more year out of the veteran sitcom. The reason? ABC also produces Scrubs and stood to make big money on additional episodes in syndication.
The network kicked off season nine late last year and registered a low 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 4.5 million viewers. The numbers dropped even further and ABC decided to burn off most of the remaining episodes in January.
In March, ABC aired the final episode of the season. The network’s website promoted it as the “series finale.” We contacted a representative for ABC who told us that it was a mistake but nobody was in any rush to change it.
Now, it appears that ABC has finally cancelled Scrubs after nine seasons on the air. With more than 180 episodes, the sitcom won’t be coming back.
What do you think? Should Scrubs have returned after last season’s Braff send off? Did you like the “med school” setting and characters?

Season 1-6 was AWESOME, season 7 okay, season 8 watchable, I have yet to finish season 9, why? because.. well, lets face it, it just wasn’t all that good after season seven, rewatch all of it and I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclusion.
To all the kids/teens out there who wants it to continue, just, don’t, it’s past its glory days, let it be remembered for what it was, a fantastic show!(Up to season 7 that is, okay, lets throw in season 8 aswell).
please!!! make another season!!!! so many unanswered questions!!!!!
I love scrubs and I think I should come back on the air but with zach braff and most of the orginal cast back (dr cox, turk, carla, and elliot) and still continute the med school storyline but with in j.d’s perspective and him as the main character, I think the reason y the rating were so low when abc produced it is because they changed it up too much too quick
i seriously think that scrubs should continue cos it would be a great shame if it didn’t. I mean every day the same **** happens but when i sit down and watch my fav program scrubs everything lightens up. I seriously love scrubs and yes it should continue. And if it dose i think that Carla and Eliot should come back like before. But seriously i think that scrubs should continue cos i know so many people who watch it and want more.
Its one of the best shows i ever saw… but they made a big mistake when JD and the Janitor left…. both of them and Perry Cox are the funiest there….
Scrubs was well know, with J.D and Turks whitty banter.. when Zack Braff left it should have been it. It wouldn’t be the same with out the J.D and Turk silliness, the Dr. Cox and Dr. Kelso arguments where brilliant the script where always amazing how the emotions changed from funny and exciting to, upsetting, and emotional.
Season 9 was not on the scale as the seasons 1 – 8.
i love scrubs, the first eight season were amazing, and i liked season nine but not nearly as good as the first 8 seasons, but they should not have made a ninth season after the amazing season 8 finale,if they had stopped after 8 seasons it would have been the best series finale ever but it was the BEST SEASON FINALE EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!but they should have stopped at 8 seasons,i mean it was not the same with out j.d. in every episode,or the janitor, carla, eliot,i think they should hire all of the season 8 cast back and the season 9 cast and make a season… Read more »
scrubs needs JD and it will be all fine, so pls make a new season
I liked the show pretty well, I like how they eased for J.D. to Lucy narrating. I still think J.D. should have been in it from then on, but just a supporting character. But I didn’t like how Drew was too much like Dr. Cox. That bugs me. There can only be one Dr. Cox, and thats John C. McGinley, who by the way is one of the most unappreciated actors of all time! Right along with Zach. But over all, I love scrubs and I think the Med School continuation could have and should have done well!
wtfff i loveed season 9 well not at first but did after a few episodes xD people have to learn to accept change gosh so what if zach braff wasnt in it as much it was still fricking awesome with the people still there and the different settings and new but still semi related story lines worked 😐
Season 9 was different but OK. I really wish they would make a season 10, this is probably my favourite TV show EVER.
I wasn’t much of a fan at first but i think that was mostly just because i didn’t want them to try n replace JD with Lucy. however after watching it again about a year later, i started to take to the new characters and settings. Kinda wish that seeing as they started this new story that they would at least finish it
no i hate the med school setting that was the eason they cancelled scrubs because that was rubbish. scrubs was a good show until season 9 came out. they shouldn’t have made season 9 like that, most of the characters from the previous seasons weren’t even there. that season wasn’t scrubs it was some next other sitcom with the same name and unfortunately they cancelled scrubs because of it.
I love scrubs, they should continue and do a season 10, the last episode just left off at a bad time, I was sad to hear that series was done. i have watched every episode!
scrubs is the best tv show that i ever watch. the ending was sad for me but in a beautiful way. if they ever come to a season ten i will always be watching. i watch scrubs on comedy central weekdays ushaully 6:00 some times they put it on early weekends 1:00 or 2:00
