Last week, FOX aired the finale of their Second Chance TV show. Will the series be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Should it get a “second chance” from the network?
On Second Chance, a sheriff named Jimmy Pritchard left his office in disgrace. As a younger man, Jimmy often ignored his family in favor of work and carousing. Unhappy and unwell at 75 years old, he’s killed but gets a second chance when his body is regenerated by some experimental technology. Can Jimmy get things right the second time around? The cast includes Rob Kazinsky, Tim DeKay, Dilshad Vadsaria, Adhir Kalyan, Ciara Bravo, and Vanessa Lengies.
The series debuted on Wednesday, January 13th, and attracted a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.71 million viewers. That wasn’t a pretty poor start. In week two, the numbers dropped about 20% to a 0.98 in the demo with 3.75 million viewers.
The network wasted no time and sent Second Chance packing to Friday nights, switching timeslots with venerable Hell’s Kitchen.
To no surprise, the numbers took a big hit on Friday nights, dropping lower than perhaps than even FOX execs expected. Over the course of its run, Second Chance fell to a 0.5 demo rating with just 1.78 million viewers.
With ratings like these, there seems to be no way that FOX will be renewing Second Chance for a second season. The numbers are just too low, even for a struggling network like FOX.

I wasn’t sure about this show after the first episode, but it got better and better in the subsequent episodes, to the point that I think it more than deserves a second, third and more chance !!!! PLEASE continue Second Chance !! It would be a shame to let this one slip by !
It stared out good then got bad but ended up good. I think give it another season.

Absolutely Second Chance has to be renewed
I honestly didn’t even give second chance a thought when it aired. Last month i lost my job and had to cancel my cabel television and subscribed to HULU instead and that’s when i discovered Second Chance. Immediately upon seeing the first episode i was hooked and i finished the entire season by the next day. I absolutely adore this show. It made me think of Forever….. another show that i guess main stream public didn’t watch but a show that was absolutely fabulous. So Forever was canceled and now you want to cancel second chance but no one cancels… Read more »
