NEW YORK, November 15, 2016 – FYI’s hit series “Seven Year Switch” returns for a season two, it was announced today by Gena McCarthy, EVP of Programming and Development. In this original FYI format, four couples at a crossroads in their relationship get to see what it would be like if they had married someone else, as they live with a stranger for two weeks in an experimental marriage. Eight episodes will premiere on Tuesday, January 3 at 8pm ET, beginning with a two-hour season opener. One-hour episodes will follow on Tuesday’s at 9pm ET thereafter, culminating with a two-hour series finale.
The first season of “Seven Year Switch” grew double digits among all key demos, including +30% with Total Viewers, +35% with Adults 25-54 and +42% with Adults 18-49. “Seven Year Switch” is a highly successful international format and currently the number one series in its time slot on Australia’s Channel Seven. Additional localized versions of the format are currently in the works around the globe.
Seven years marks a point in many relationships when couples find themselves to be restless and dissatisfied; and some even wonder what it would be like if they had picked a different partner. “Seven Year Switch” follows the journey of four couples who have hit a breaking point in their marriage. Each of the couples will participate in an extreme, innovative experiment of switch therapy, in which they swap partners and partake in experimental marriages in order to help determine if different traits and characteristics in a mate could make their marriage stronger.
In the season two premiere, four new married couples are introduced as they embark on an emotionally difficult journey to help repair their relationships. Viewers learn each of their stories – how they met, how they fell in love, how their marriages took a turn for the worst and why they are willing to risk everything in order to save it. Lack of intimacy, communication and different interests are all factors that contributed to the decline in the couple’s marriages.
Two relationship experts; Charles Orlando and Dr. Jessica Griffin, will help guide the couples through the switch therapy process, as they adjust to living with an experimental spouse. Will their temporary partners be able to fill the void they’ve been yearning for, or will they discover that the grass isn’t always greener? At the end of the two week long experiment, each of the married couples will reunite and make the decision to either recommit to their spouse or part ways for good.
“Seven Year Switch” is produced by Kinetic Content for FYI. Chris Coelen, Karrie Wolfe, Eric Detwiler and Cat Rodriguez are executive producers for Kinetic Content. Gena McCarthy and Liz Fine serve as executive producers for FYI.
