What’s This TV Show About?
On the Shadowhunters TV show, young Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) celebrates her 18th birthday at a New York City nightclub and sees a group of teenagers with supernatural abilities attacking a demon. She realizes that she is the only person who can see them and later learns that she’s one of a long line of demon hunters. When her mother, Jocelyn (Maxim Roy) is kidnapped, Clary must join other hunters to try to save her. All the while, she is learning about her new supernatural abilities. The rest of the Freeform cast includes Matthew Daddario, Alberto Rosende, Dominic Sherwood, Harry Shum Jr., Emeraude Toubia, and Isaiah Mustafa.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Shadowhunters averaged a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 648,000 viewers. Compared to the season one, that’s down by 38% in the demo and down by 32% in viewers. Learn how Shadowhunters stacks up against the other Freeform TV shows.
On April 21, 2017, Shadowhunters was officially renewed for a third season which will debut April 3, 2018. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
While the second season of Shadowhunters has dropped off considerably, it is still in the top half of Freeform’s programming slate. Freeform has cancelled and renewed shows doing both better and worse than Shadowhunters. It also seems to fit with the Freeform brand. At this time, I suspect Shadowhunters will be renewed for a third season.

Don’t leave us hanging wondering what will happen to the Shadowhunters and the Downworlders!!! Please make season 3! My 17 year old daughter and I watch it in The Netherlands along with man other Dutch fans!

Please cancel, its a horrible adaptation to the book series. Clearly none of these viewers have read the books, if so they’d understand what a disgrace this show is to the books. Even the movie was better than this train wreck.
I read the books and despite that the show is different I love it and even if other fans didn’t read the books they can watch it and love it, can’t they? Why would you want it cancelled if you don’t like it? Just don’t watch it but don’t trash it because there are people who care about this show just like you care about the books.
Just don’t watch the show, just because you do not like the tv series compared to the book does not mean they should cancel the show.
Together with my 17 year old daughter we sincerely hope Shadowhunters will have a 3rd season. We are big fans, watching in The Netherlands and with us a lot more!! We can ‘t get enough…thursty for more!

I am hoping for season 3, I really like this show and it sucks when you get into something you enjoy watching and then they cancel the show.
Hopefully not, I loved both seasons!!!! It was kind of different from what the books did, but pretty much when with the same plot. I didn’t like that Clary’s mom died. Other than that it was great and can’t wait for another season!!!!!
Absolutely there will be another season! You cent just end such an amazing show like that!!!! So many more stories to tell!! I absolutely Love this show!!!!!!!
