FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

I enjoyed the show immensely. I love when a show brings reality to life. The show was about truths and how to help the other person see the other persons point of view. Disappointed to see the show go but not surprised considering the network. I hope you all find another network that is about portraying the truth and not afraid to own it. When cannot heal if we don’t understand the real. Some stuff I wasn’t expecting and I’m really mad that 5/24 may be the end
This is a gritty real lady GE drama that should be picked up for the next 3 seasons. I’m disappointed that FOX is dropping one of the best real life drama in television.
I love this show!! I am really upset it was cancelled!! Why??? This show has a great cast and the substance and real life situations are so right now !! I’m a North Carolinian and this story line hits home not just here in NC but nationwide… We need more episodes please and Thank you!!

Must have touch a nerve. Real issues. It is a great series. Couldn’t have been acting. The whole cast is stellar.
Would love to have a second third or more but I guess it would expose to much to and for the masses. Yet the keep stupid / dumb stuff on the air. I don’t believe the ratings. Put it on another day and time. Like Monday or Tuesday. There’s nothing watchable on them days. It can happen. They just don’t want it to happen.
It is a good show way better than rosewood and it was on more than it should have been I think you all are taking it off because it tells the truth about the justice system in the world
