FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

I don’t think FOX did a great job of showcasing a show that highlighted contemporary issues. It should have aired before Empire. I hate to see it go!
Yes I would totally watch a second season of Shots Fired. I Love the show. It tells a story about the time we are living in now with how police brutality is around the United States today.
I believe that this is the true reason this show will not have a second season.

I really enjoyed the Series. I guess some people thought it was racially bias. But it was both lack and whites who were suffering from Injustice. I would love to see Season 2.
This show should most difficult come back for a second season. Yes I would watch it as well as millions of others. This show shine a light in the start of fixing the every day issue we deal with right know. Sham on Fox for ending the show hopefully another network see this show as a eye opener and pick it up to continue.

Shots Fired is a highly enjoyable program. The script and acting is superb and the show should be renewed, in my opinion. What likely hurt its ratings is when the show was introduced. I myself did not view the show until a month after it debuted and am sorry it took me so long.
I’m tired of getting hooked on a show then it gets cancelled! Hopefully, another network will pick it up.
I thought the season was excellent and addresses current issues in the real world and I’d like to see another season take place. I was glued to the television set on Wednesday’s. I would be glued again if it was to go into a second season. Excellent series that held you by your seat, plus emotionally charged.
