FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

To much reality TV. People don’t know good shows when they see them.
I love the show and would’ve definitely watched more seasons to come. It’s sad that shows about nothing or reality shows get play, but when it’s about real life issues of today, it won’t get a season two.
I hate that the show is being cancelled. For the first time in a long time Shot’s Fired was a show that had some meaning. Please bring the show back!
This show was Awesome. I am so disappointed that they are not renewing for the next Season. I hope another Network pick them up for the second season. Did the Network think about changing the time slot? This show airs on Wednesday here in New York, which means a lot has of competition. All my other shows was set to record on DVR. This show is had to watch.
I really love this show and do a lot of other people I know. So it’s coming as a surprise to me that it won’t be back next season. I really wish you would change your mind or even continue the series on Netflix.
I was looking forward to Season 2 but I’m not surprised because the show is dealing with a topic that is too close to today’s reality. Hopefully, it will get picked up for another season.

There definitely needs to be a second season to this show ! One of the best drama series I EVER seen. It’s unfortunate that it went under the radar with a lot of folks and that led to poor ratings. But this show is truly GEM! Gonna miss it…
I can’t believe the show is not returning. It is one of the best projects on network television. Fox need to properly promote the show and give it the respect it deserves. Give the show a chance to catch on. Don’t pull the plug. I watch 2 Network shows and this is one of them.
Shots Fired definitely needs a second season. No good dramas left on television. I loved the twist on today’s current events. I love seeing Sanaa in this role! Bring it back!

My ONLY issue was tht it only had 1/2 hr a wk & took FOREVER to get to the good parts.
