FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Yes I watched shots fired. It was a good show with great acting. I enjoyed the show especially since I know it was based on a true story. I definitely think there should be a season 2.
Please don’t let it end this way, Don’t let it end at all!!! This is a great show that deserves a chance…the viewers and cast deserve it! My daughter and I love this show and we didn’t miss a single episode, some episodes we watched multiple times. Bring it back, please!!!

Shots Fired is an outstanding show in so many ways. From the story line to the acting. It deserves a second season.

This show is amazing! It’s thought provoking, creates conversation and does an exceptional job of talking about race relations. The actors are great and storylines are in tune with our current racial climate. I’m thankful this fictional, although very relatable series is being giving a national platform. Kudos to the writers, producers, production team and actors. Job well done!

I found the show to amazing, opening the eyes to what is really going on in America. And what a better way then to reverse the roles so that the everyone is able to FEEL the pains of everyone. I really enjoyed the show, I honestly wish the network would renew with another season. Or maybe a different network should pick it up. Great job to the writers, directors, cast, and everyone else!
I really loved this show and like the Role Sanaa plays, I had to dvr it because I work nights. This is why I started back watching fox. It may have a main story line based on racism but it is so much more. A mother with a full time career dealing with a jealous daddy new girlfriend. I love the reverseal of it all.
