FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

It doesn’t surprise that a show dealing with real issues won’t be back for a second season. The world we live in prefers to watch trash. I thoroughly enjoyed every episode of this show. It’s such a shame it ended so soon.
The show was awesome. I wouldn’t love to see a season 2. I think the show was upfront on a lot of today social and injustice issues. PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!

Is fox serious? This is one of the best shows I’ve watched in a while and you’re canceling it ?yet you’re keeping empire??? Maybe bc this is real life and that’s fake drama, and maybe because this is positivity and that’s all types of negativity……it’s not about the rating guys, it’s about the truth and they don’t want the the truth……..I’m sooooooo done with fox they may as well cancel the whole network now.

I really hate this show is not returning. The storyline was powerful and well-written…and I’m guessing to realistic. Too bad the networks would rather air something inane.
