FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

What do you think? Did you watch Shots Fired? Would you have watched a second season of this FOX series?

Love the show shots fired definitely think it should come back for a second season
Thought this was an outstanding series. I hope they bring the show back.
Great show I only watched on demand, I work during week so I have to catch up on weekends. Binge watching!!!
This was an amazing and relevant dramatic series. If people weren’t watching, they probably should have been! While they producers did a fantastic job of wrapping the series, more shows of this nature speaking to the climate of our justice system and law enforcement are needed! I would have welcomed and watched a second season.
Please bring shots fired back much needed t.v. series showing today’s time we’re in
I thought the show was excellent! Yes I would watch another season. It was informative in many ways. It’s an eye opener of many issues not just race issues. PLEASE bring back the show!
This was an EXCELLENT show. I watched every episode on Hulu faithfully. I’m very disappointed to hear that there will not be a second season. We need a season two!!!
Would really like to see Shots Fired renewed!! Honest look at what is happening in our world! A proactive response on rebuilding a community!! I think it could impact and make a difference!!
I am terribly disappointed. This show was not only full of heart, it was full of hope and renewed my spirit. It was very much needed given our society today. I rearranged my work schedule, so as to not miss an episode. I’d gladly do it again. Please renew and return, thank you.
Damn right I would have gladly watched season 2!!! Bring Shots Fired back!!!
I loved the show! I hope they get a second season chance with another network. In our current time, I think it is show many of us need to watch.
Ms. Claire I agree. It can be a very positive impact on today’s world. It demonstrates both side.
This was the most real show on TV this season. It hit home on the truth behind social injustice and how our justice system plays favorites for the rich, when they are truly guilty of the same crimes as the less fortunate. It’s a shame Fox TV can’t see the benefits this show brings to its viewers. It should have been renewed–ratings aren’t everything when a show has excellent content and quality..and Shots Fired had all of this. Boo Fox TV!!
It is because people can’t stand having our own apathy and the way we treat each other thrown back in our faces. I was disappointed in the outcome but was hoping to see some more justice in season 2.
Yes I definitely would watch a second season … the show was true to life stories that have occurred at one time or another. The actors and actresses did an awesome job!
Wld(ve) watched a second season bc i luv EVERY & ALL (NOT so true to life, wink wink ) “crime dramas [even whn i peg the storyline> Black man caught up, White man let off ENDING from
