FOX drama Shots Fired won’t have a second season. The series creators have said they weren’t ruling out the possibility of a second season but it seems like there won’t be one.
The 10-part drama explores the tense aftermath of two racially charged shootings in a small North Carolina town. The cast includes Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Helen Hunt, Richard Dreyfuss, Will Patton, Aisha Hinds, Conor Leslie, and Stephen Moyer.
Not only was Shots Fired planned as a limited series, but the show’s ratings have been pretty poor. Season one, which wraps next Wednesday night, is averaging a 0.89 rating in the 18-49 demo and 3.56 million viewers. Still, the viewership numbers make the drama FOX‘s seventh most-watched scripted series for the 2016-2017 season.
Earlier, creators Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood said there’s always a chance for a second season down the line.
Word has been that the series wasn’t going to be coming back. Both a network spokesperson and Prince-Bythewood have confirmed that May 24th’s season finale will also be the show’s series finale.

Yes my family and I will definitely watch a second, third and fourth session of Shots Fired!!!! I would rather my children watch a show like this instead of Ratchet TV!

Another outstanding program with a great cast down the drain….way to go maybe we should just have 24 hour reality shows on 200+ channels so I can throw away my TV and save $120 a month in nonsensical pursuit of good quality entertainment.

Another example of a dumbed down TV audience. This was a thought provoking and conversation inviting dramatic series, and a smart programming move given the public perception of the Fox network as a company lately. People would rather support “reality shows” ( The Kardashians, House Flip, The Voice, etc) instead of dealing with issues involving REAL life issues and injustices, A series that could FLIP a persons prejudices and subtle ingrained racism and give not only a visual but a VOICE to those victims of both hate crimes and those struggling to survive working in a hostile work environment made… Read more »
Shots fired was one if the few shows that my family watched faithfully. Please, please bring it back for another season.
This was a really good show that attack issue that are real and relevant NOW . This was a subject matter that effects the human side of how things are perceive from differ points of views. Or. Black vs White view, rich vs poor views, as well as law enforcement views on different neighborhoods. I was looking forward to whatswhat subject of the writers would have tackled next season. Glad the creators of the show were at least able to wrap the finale up with a positive ending, and not a typical cliffhanger, leaving everyone to ponder how things might have been. ; )
Thought it was some great tv, dealing with daily life situations… along the lines of American Crime, another “unfortunately” canceled show.

Absolutely ridiculous to cancel a fantastic riveting show ! Every time a great show is on it gets cancelled! Battle Creek on CBS , the firm on NBC, the glades on a&e ! Everything good gets shut down and we the viewers have to suffer cuz some nit wit doesn’t care !! Boycott fox just like ABC for cancelling Last Man standing!! Prove to your viewers that you’re not just another TV station. Show us what we want or be boycotted!!!

This is a great show. Once again when I like a show it gets cancelled. Great story which shows both sides. Fantastic actors. I think it brings people together instead of having races against each other. People need to see the real world. This is the real world. Please don’t cancel this show. It was awesome.
