For the most part, ABC’s summer programming focuses on reality TV series, like The Bachelorette and game shows like Celebrity Family Feud. Still, the Alphabet Network always makes a little room for summertime scripted series. Although Mistresses was cancelled after four seasons, last fall, the Downward Dog sitcom premiered in May, and the Somewhere Between drama series kicks off in July. Joining them is the Still Star-Crossed TV show. Will this Romeo and Juliet sequel be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
A Shondaland TV series adaptation of Melinda Taub’s novel, Still Star-Crossed stars Grant Bowler, Wade Briggs, Torrance Coombs, Dan Hildebrand, Lashana Lynch, Ebonee Noel, Medalion Rahimi, Zuleikha Robinson, Sterling Sulieman, Susan Wooldridge, and Anthony Head. The ABC drama features the bloodshed and palace intrigue overwhelming fair Verona in the aftermath of the tragic deaths of Romeo (Laviscount) and Juliet (Rugaard). To force a truce, Prince Escalus (Sulieman), decrees Benvolio Montague (Briggs) and Rosaline Capulet (Lynch) must wed.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Still Star-Crossed TV series on ABC? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
6/22 update: ABC sent Still Star-Crossed to Saturday nights and a cast member confirmed there won’t be a second season.
I absolutely love Still Star Crossed! We were left hanging after the King was bowed down prior to Benovolo’s execution. It would be so sad for this show to be cancelled. Please give it another chance!!!! It was so awesome to see this Romeo and Juliet tale to be brought to live in a modern way. The actors are phenomenal, as is the drama and intrigue. It may not be for everyone, but it really should be on the air!
Please bring this show back, it was very enjoyable, I’m was looking for new episodes and I’m very disappointed that I could not find any.
The fact that this show is based on the aftermath of Romeo and Juliet is both intriguing and creative. There are so many adaptations of Romeo and Juliet but not of what comes after. The twists and turns and love stories throughout keep me wanting to watch episode after episode. Especially after the finale, it would be a great disservice to not see the development between Rosalyn and Benvolio and to see the reaction of the prince.
The best new series I’ve seen in years!!! PLEASE bring it back – anyone – so long as I can get it on regular TV or Netflix, cause I can’t afford cable.
I really enjoy watching this show. I am so upset that ABC will cancel it. I think that this show should be given a chance and more advertisement. I found it one day scrolling through my On Demand options to find something to watch and now that I am hooked, it’s being cancelled. What a bummer!! Please, Please reconsider. I really want to see Rosalyn and Benvolio love story play out. In addition, I really want to see the King fall apart as he discovers that Rosalyn’s heart has been stolen by the man he forced upon her. I think… Read more »
I LOVED this show. It is such a disservice to us devoted viewers, that it is cancelled. It has great potential and I hope it gets picked up by another network. The plot was intriguing, the cast was diverse, their were were gasp- worthy plot twists. The characters were realistic and believable and I believe the show can be a big hit if given the chance. This is really saddening my heart. Please bring back this show. ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
I really liked the show; it was interesting to see such a diverse cast. The writers did a great job with the season finale, so it would be nice if another network picked it up for a season two- not sure how that stuff works though…
I can not believe this show is being cancelled! The cast is fantastic and the story line is great! As a very busy person I don’t get to watch too much tv. But the very first episode of Still Star Crossed captured me! This show takes me away and has me completely zoned in for an hour! One season is not enough time, you’re not giving this series a chance! Please stop canceling the good shows and get rid of more reality shows. Fingers crossed this show does end up coming back for season 2! We are all being left… Read more »
Please renew!! Excellent show.
PLEASE…. bring it back or someone else pick it up!!!!
Please bring it back. Don’t leaving us hanging with the awesome finale. Stop cancelling all the great shows ABC and start cancelling many of the reality shows.
I hope the second season is picked up by Hulu or net flicks!! I think the show is interesting and I absolutely adore the cast!!!! What happens next! #stillstarcrossed bring it back!!
Finally a show that is worth watching and you want to cancel it? To that I say “Please Don’t” The story line is great and the actors are phenomenal. I would love to see what will become of Verona now that “The New Prince” has arrived, not to mention where that passionate kiss between Benvoli and Rosilyn will lead to and where does that kiss leave the fair prince. Personally I feel you should give them a second chance, come on ABC what do you say, season two? Huh, maybe? Thanks for hearing me out!!!
Enjoying this show so much and very upset it is getting canceled.the problem was the network, break times between episodes, and lack of advertising. I think a network like BBC or Freeform or even Hulu or Netflix would be an excellent choice for the show. I have yet to hear word from Rhimes it seems like she doesn’t care as much for this project like her other shows. I am sad it is almost over right when it was getting good. Most People just have short attention spans.
I don’t think she doesn’t care, but I think it was a bad timing
Kalyn, I certainly agree with you. Lack of advertising and not putting much effort into her show (Rhimes) is what hurt the show and not getting the much viewers it deserved. I am too sad this show is coming to an end with only 2 episodes left. It should have been on a different network.
I believe Still-Crossed has terrific potential. Given the chance, I’m sure others will love it as much as I. Now that I’ve had a taste, I can’t get enough!
