Will Ferrell is moving to premium cable. Variety reports the SNL alum will executive produce a new HBO pilot titled Succession.
The family drama comes from Adam McKay, who has directed Anchorman, Step Brothers, and The Big Short.
Succession “follows the saga of a fictional, American global-media family that is not only rich and powerful, but also powerfully dysfunctional. The project will explore family loyalty, international business and the perils of power in the 21st century.”
Jesse Armstrong will write the pilot, with McKay slated to direct and executive produce alongside Ferrell, Kevin Messick, and Frank Rich.
