Sunday, September 30, 2012 ratings — 666 Park Avenue had its series premiere last night while Once Upon a Time, Revenge, The Mentalist, The Good Wife, The Amazing Race. The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad had their season debuts. Oh yeah, and NBC had an NFL game. A big night of television for sure.
On ABC, the evening started with a recap episode, Once Upon a Time: Magic is Coming. That drew a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.0 million total viewers. That was followed by the season premiere of Once Upon a Time with a 3.8 rating and 11 million viewers.
At 9pm, it was the season debut of Revenge. In its new timeslot, the sophomore drama brought a 3.2 demo rating with 9.5 million.
That was followed by the series premiere of 666 Park Avenue. It garnered a disappointing 2.2 rating in the demo with 7.0 million viewers. Compared to last fall’s premiere of Pan Am, the network was down by 29% in the demo (vs a 3.1 rating) and down by 37% in viewership (vs 11.06 million). Not a good start.
On CBS, the return of 60 Minutes brought a 1.9 demo rating with 11.53 million viewers. That was followed by The Amazing Race season premiere and a 2.6 in the demo with 9.70 million.
At 9pm, the season debut of The Good Wife brought a 1.9 rating with 9.81 million viewers. It was followed by The Mentalist, in its new Sunday timeslot, with a 2.1 in the demo and 10.83 million.
On FOX, football took the 7pm half-hour timeslot with a 7.9 rating and 20.82 million viewers. That was followed at 7:30pm with The OT which registered a 7.7 in the demo and 19.80 million.
At 8pm, The Simpsons season premiere drew a 3.7 demo rating with 7.97 million. It was followed by Bob’s Burgers with a 2.5 rating and 5.4 million.
At 9pm, Family Guy drew a 3.3 rating with 6.53 million viewers. That was followed by American Dad which garnered a 2.5 rating and 5.23 million.
On NBC, it was a night of NFL football. At 7pm, Football Night in America drew a 2.4 rating with 6.79 million viewers. At 8pm, it bumped up to a 6.2 rating with 16.75 million. Sunday Night Football (New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles) began at 8:30pm and dominated the rest of the night with an 8.5 rating and 22.48 million viewers.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Do you think 666 Park Avenue will recover from this poor start? What were you watching last night?

I was disappointed with 666 Park Avenue. It didn’t feel suspenseful enough for me.
Same here. I was checking off the horror movie clique boxes as the episode progressed and, by the time it was done, I just didn’t care that the yuppie couple had just signed their souls over to the Devil. They weren’t sympathetic enough characteres for me. Oh, and why the hell didn’t that guy pull his wife out of the elevator between smashes? I guess you can make the argument that not every ordinary person has reflexes that fast, but I’d sure as hell be trying if it were my significant other. He just stood there going “OMG!” The reveal… Read more »
I’m glad Revenge and Once Upon A Time did well last night, they’re two of my favorite returning shows. I actually missed the premieres. I didn’t quite have time to watch 666 Park Avenue though, so I’ll have to check it out tonight. I know it’s gotten mixed reviews and disappointing ratings, but I think it has potential.
I think 666 Park Av knocked it out of the park. Revenge and Once Upon a Time great as usual
