Episode 15 – Who will be left behind?
With a tsunami on the way, Wilmington, NC residents (like Miles and his family) are being forced to evacuate the island.
Laura travels to find Rich who has been arrested by military police at the mysterious laboratory. As the lab employees evacuate the building, he’s locked in a cell and left to die.
Miles’ girlfriend Caitlin has gone missing and he goes back to find her. With the help of Nim, Miles eventually finds her unconscious on the side of the road. As they try to escape the tsunami by car, they run into Laura and Rich who have escaped from the lab. They run out of gas and flee to a church just as a giant wave come towards them.
Inside the church, Laura and Miles see a big creature swimming around in the water. As a second wave comes crashing in, they make it up to the roof of the church. On the roof, the four look out over a flooded city and Laura says, “It’s a whole new world.”
The show was cancelled and there’s been news of any plans to finish the story. The DVD set includes deleted scenes but no closure.

My husband and I just spent the weekend watching all the episodes. Shame on Whoever decided to cancell it!!!!! We agree with all the above comments!!!
I too just watched this show in its entirety for the first time. My heart broke when I found that this show was cut short. It seems every time I find a good show to watch, they cancel it. Yet, I still remain shocked when I see some dumb show runs on for 5 years plus. I really would like for Netflix to pick up and continue this show if possible. That would be wonderful. Oh well, here’s to hoping.
Let’s finish it! Great show! My kids love it! And still good and relevant 10 years later! Whoever made the decision to cancel it made a mistake. Is it possible that it was competing with the beginning of Reality TV (I.E. The Bachlor, etc) or Lost (which was horrible toward the middle and end)? If so, now is the time. So over Reality TV and got to where I absolutely despised Lost. Didn’t even finish it. And since there have since been several successful Godzilla Movies…..it certainly is time to CONTINUE AND FINISH this series. I can see at least… Read more »
I’m 66 yrs old and I really enjoyed surface. Netflix, please pick up and let’s continue this great adventure!!!!!
I have watched the series “Surface” for the second time. I realize now that this series has been canceled but still I was in hopes that more series had bet made. But sadly none were!
Just saw all 15 episodes and towards the end realized I was going to be left hanging. All I could think of was no way! This show was amazing !! The characters were great. The monsters were cool. “Science” was used creatively and the cheese factor was kept to a minimum in a movie like this. Great storyline with nice surprises. Extremely well done Sci Fi. NBC made a foolish mistake by not continuing this series. Perhaps interruption of the Olympics at the time made viewers lose interest and not tune back in for the last five episodes. So again… Read more »
Please continue the show. Why, why good show should be canceled
Just did a 15 episode marathon run of the tv show Surface, I couldn’t stop watching, it’s so freakin addicting. Now i’m pissed, cause there are no more episodes to watch. Such a fantastic show.
I watched the series too and was angry when it was cancelled. BUT, I recently saw a program about an incident with a dead diver; one of two brothers (sound familiar?) near an oil rig and a 40+ foot creature that rammed and destroyed a 40 ft ship, killing all aboard. The navy got involved with that and (get this), armed specially trained dolphins to seek out and kill the creature. Several of the dolphins died but apparently killed the creature, as a huge severed claw was recovered. Later, Mexican fishermen caught the remains of a much smaller creature……….that looked… Read more »
I found this series on Netflix and couldn’t figure out why it was canceled? It is a great story. Are the creatures man made or not? What is Miles turning into? Will Mom turn into one of those huge creatures? Will the huge one.that ate a large boat, be back? Did the man in the face covering hat clone people? I’m watching 15 now and this is not a finish. Why do networks get ride of exciting shows then replace them with some dumb comedy.?! Bring back through Netflix or a movie!
I’ve been a fan of Surface since the first episode back in 2005. I never missed an episode. In fact, my mother and I would use those nights as a time to bond and watch the show together. Hell, I even got my girlfriend hooked on the show. We all feel the same way. The show was ended WAAAAY too early. There was so many unanswered questions, so much potential with the plot and characters – especially with Miles. I’m seriously hoping SOMEONE high up with grasp this opportunity and either reboot the series, or finish it off in some… Read more »
Wonderful story…plz continue on netflix….nim is so cool!
Just watched on Netflix excellent show, but need to bring it back. We all need an ending, can’t wait to see it.
Just watched Surface on Netflix and really enjoyed it!! I don’t know how I missed it when it aired and yet I do. There isn’t much of interest on network TV for a syfy fan. The acting and writing on Surface was wonderful and as others have said the last episode left us hanging. Since NBC is not interested in this series maybe Netflix or Hulu who are now producing their own series could pick this one up for the science fiction crowd. We are a loyal group to those series we fall in love with…just an idea.
Cynthia you are so correct. I just finished watching Surface today and it was awesome. I am hoping that someone can pick up this series SOON :)!!!
Just watched Surface and loved it. My sincere sympathies to the creators and writers. It was obvious there was a very well thought out plot line with much more story to tell. Hated to see it end so abruptly after one season. Everyone associated with this show, should be very proud of the work they did. Great job everyone! I won’t watch anymore shows on NBC either, due to the cancellation of this show. It doesn’t matter that it ended 8 years ago. The extraordinarily poor judgement/decision making exemplified by NBC management in choosing to cancel this show is still… Read more »
