It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
This may be late but I just watched this on Netflix, and I would watch the second season on any channel or medium it is on.
I NEED SEASON TWO, this show is bery very good and I need to know what happened! I NEED SEASON TWOOOOO
Since NBC really does have some good programs, why not give these good shows 2 or 3 various time slots during each week which would allow more people a chance to sample your shows. Otherwise NBC just give up! Over the years you have canceled many of your shows that I really liked!
I’ve just finished watching the series on Netflixs and it was brilliant and they should bring it back
I just started watching this on Netflix.. and so very disappointed that its been cancelled. This is a very good show, very well written, great actors and great chemistry. BIG BLUNDER NBC!
I really look forward to watching TaxiBrooklyn, I hope the powers that be give it more time to catch the rest of the world, If not – then to the cast and crew I wish to say thank you for your great entertainment and I will watch your show over again on Netflix.
I like the show due to the difference in a police car vs a taxi. Plus the show had character. The timing of the show is different, I would think that the number of people watching would grow as soon as the show started a 2nd season. People are real busy now. They need time to sort these things out. Plus what was the competition?
Just finished watching season 1 and I loved it. Needs a season 2, I’m tired of watching shows just for then to be canceled.
I absolutely enjoyed the first season and was looking forward to seeing the next season. I’m very disappointed to hear that there will not be a second season most likely.
we really enjoyed this show. Not nice to have multiple cliff hangers at the end and not have a season 2. bring it back!
Why did you have to end the show on that now there are thousands of things happening.
You guys need to make a season two cause that was an amazing series
You can’t cancel Taxi Brooklyn !!! It’s an amazing show and to end it like that is quite a shame! Please bring it back and another Season.
What the hell is wrong with NBC. Cancelling this show was the dumbest thing ever. You guys dont even look at how many people are watching the ahow online, on netflix, or people that are using a pvr. You only look at one thing and this is why so many good shows are getting cancelled. Maybe you tv providers need to look at othwr thing and really reavaluate how you choose what shows to cancel.
This is a wOnderful series. NBC fails the public again.
Why cancel good shows, and leave crazy shows on like vampires? It just shows which direction the world is going to. It doesn’t make sense to take time and effort for 12episodes, and leave you hanging.
