It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
I really like this show. I am sorry nbc cancelled it. It is a shame. They keep bad shows and cancel good ones
so disappointed that there won’t be another season
NBC made a stupid choice, and They are to quick to cancel a good show like Taxi Brooklyn… then they continue with other TV series that aren’t worth it. NBC, you would keep a more captive audience when you stop cancelling great shows like Taxi Brooklyn. This is the reason I normally don’t watch NBC, you watch a series it grabs you and NBC cancels it
I found the show on Netflix and watched the whole season in a day and I have to agree with everyone NBC sucks taking a good show like this off the mother dies and the ex husband dies but they had room for a couple more episodes season two how could u leave someone in suspense to just have them wondering what happened
I started to watch this show on Netflix I really like it but had to stop watching because the camera moves so much I was afraid it was going to trigger a seizure I hate the way they film now the camera movement hard on people who get seizures.
I also found this show on Netflix and I must say “Awesome show”!!! After watching 2 episodes, I got hooked. I had started watching it during my lunch break at work and found myself looking forward to my lunch breaks just so I can see what the next episode would lead me too. After the streaming of the last episode, I searched Netflix for more seasons and couldn’t find any. So I did a web search and found out that NBC was the network the aired the show. Little did I know, NBC had cancelled future series. Very very disappointing!!!!… Read more »
I having watching Season1 on Netflix. I absolutely love the show. I am saddened that this might be the only season aired. I was looking forward to seeing more of this program. Hopefully it will be picked up by another Network orNBC will change their mind about doing more seasons.
My husband and I really enjoyed Taxi Brooklyn. It is worth doing a season 2, at the very least. The characters have great charisma and play well off each other. We would definitely watch more seasons of the show.
I would watch this show on another channel! I thought the show was great! I started watching on Netflix and immediately got hooked!!! I am so sorry there isn’t another season to resolve some of the situations that came up in the finale!!!!
I found the show on Netflix one of best and already cancelled. It sad me because they didn’t even give viewer a chance to enjoy it
I loved Taxi Brooklyn and was hooked on seeing this show, I think that it should be renewed and if NBC will not pick it up then I think that maybe BET or centric on cable should pick it up.
such a good tv show and the last episode just leaves you hanging. wish that there was a second season. need to know if they will get Leo’s son back and who the heck is Henry. Such a waste to not be able to see the second season.
I found this show on Netflix the other day and after about 2 episodes i was hooked. I had to look up what station originally broadcasted this show. Come to find out it was NBC. Well it doesn’t surprise me that it was NBC. They tend to do that. After reading comments from below I agree with everyone. NBC was way to quick to pull the plug on this show. I can only hope that Netflix makes it an original and continue to make seasons. And I hope they make a killing on it cause NBC made a stupid choice.… Read more »
