It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?
Great show, love all the characters, really hope that it doesnt get canceled i would really like to know what happens next (huge cliffhanger).
Binge watched it in 2 days on Netflix………and you cancelled it?????? I’m sick and tired of this, time to stop watching NBC. You cancel shows and kill an entire universe.
i really enjoyed watching it and i think nbc is stupid for ending it like that without a second season
It really is a great show and funny. Keep it going do another season
Just watch the 1st season on Netflix and it was great! I found it to be entertaining and could wait to find out what happens next. Please produce a season two or a least tell us what the writers had planned for season two.
Great show,do not cancel
Just left it with a great cliff hanger.
I loved the show..I was hooked from the first episode..I watched it over the weekend and now I’m hoping they’ll make second season. I need to know what happens with nico and everyone else…please at least one more season!!
This was an awesome show!! So tired of all the NCIS CRAP. u all suck! Give us season 2 pls!!
I like the show sad it was cancelled saw it on netflex was looking forward to second season
WHAT! No season 2? I just watch the full 1st season on Netflix’s in 2 days. Hoping and praying Netflix or another channel will pick it up.#Please
typical network bull ****. A plague on them. AMC did this with Longmire. Thankfully, Netflix picked it up. I hate network TV and watch as little as possible. It’s all about the $. They suck ass.
Need another season!!!!
I really enjoyed the show. Good story right characters. Saw the major cliff hanger at end of season 1 on nextflix and thought I can’t wait for the next season!
I only recently “discovered” Taxi Brooklyn on Netflix, and I love it and am so sorry that I will only get to see one season! I really do not understand how it is determined what shows will succeed and which ones will not. This show has had some writing that was not as good as other episodes, but over all, I think it has everything it needs to be on for many seasons. I am truly disappointed that this is all I will get to see.
