It looks like the ride is over for Taxi Brooklyn. It’s been cancelled by NBC and won’t be returning for a second season this summer.
Taxi Brooklyn follows Cat Sullivan (Chyler Leigh), a tough NYPD Detective who doesn’t let a demotion to foot patrol stop her from trying to find her father’s killer. She finds an unlikely ally in Leo Romba (Jacky Ido), a taxi driver from Marseille. The rest of the cast includes James Colby, Jose Zuniga, Jennifer Esposito, Bill Heck, Ally Walker, and Raul Casso.
The series debuted last June 25th to an unimpressive 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.34 million viewers. The numbers didn’t improve over the course of the season which averaged a 0.9 rating in the demo and 5.0 million viewers.
The season finale of Taxi Brooklyn aired in September 2014 and there hasn’t been any official word from the network regarding the show’s fate. That’s certainly not a good sign, especially if viewers were hoping to see a second season this summer.
Late last year, executive producer Gary Scott Thompson indicated that things weren’t looking good and that they were “running out of time” — likely an indication that the cast contracts would soon expire. Earlier this year, he wrote that, “If history is any indication, we will probably never have official word” [on Taxi Brooklyn’s fate].
When reporting that Leigh had joined the pilot for Supergirl on CBS, TVLine noted that Taxi Brooklyn would not be returning to NBC for a second season.
NBC licensed the show from EuropaCorp Television so their costs are lower. EuropaCorp could potentially produce a second season and find another US outlet to air it but there’s been no word of that. Thompson has said that “it’s up to nbc.”
What do you think? Did you like the Taxi Brooklyn TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season? Would you watch a second season on another channel?

that show is awesome. I would love to see what happens next.
Too bad. I thought that the show had potential. I particular liked Ido. I felt he was the character to watch in this show.
I really LOVED THAT SHOW PLEASE MAKE IT COME BACK!
Enjoying the show on Netflix. Would like to see more seasons.
This is probably the dumbest premise for a tv show. I thought the exec who greenlit this show should be fired. I started watching on Netflix however and it’s not too bad, not too bad at all. Once you get past the dumb premise the show is enjoyable
Loved this show wish there was a second season
There need to be a season 2 you know how much people here in the Virgin Islands have been waiting for the season
With all the totall garbage that is on tv today, they put a great show on then it off without giving it a chance. Taxi Brooklyn was a great show..
I just finished watching the first season on Netflix and finding out that there probably will not be a second season is really upsetting, especially with how the first season ended! I thought this was a pretty awesome show and I loved that it was something I could watch with my daughter (for the most part, some parts were a little more mature for her) but we loved it!
We love Taxi Brooklyn! Too bad it didn’t continue into season 2. We would definitely watch it on another station.
Devastated! All keyed up to see what happens next and then find this out there’s no more!
Bring back Taxi Brooklyn, it is brilliant!
My family and I just watched the first season on Netflix and we are very disappointed that it just ended like that. Please bring it back so we can see how everything ends. This is very unfair for the fans like us who have a small selection of tv shows that we can watch as a family.
